Hello everybody, i guess we have no luck at all, after our application package was already lost in the mail a while ago, we filed again on December 23 with priority mail (didnt purchase the delivery confirmation though - no way to track it), it should have been delivered there on December 27, but we still didn't get any email notification... this is so frustrating... my gf is crying and i have no clue how to comfort her since we both saw a bunch of time-lines showing that ppl usually get their email notifications within this time...

there is one thing though: i forgot that i recently took a lot of money out of my account which meant i didn't have enough there for a visa fee, i realized that on December 29 and added the money back, could it be so that they tried to cash my check any time before i added money (i was missing like 10 bucks) and now the whole package is on its way back to me? My account can be overdrafted so it should mean that they would still be able to cash the check, right?

i will appreciate any help or advice here, it's driving us both insane and i can not find any reasonable explanation

thank you!

Reasonable explanation? You filed 2 days before christmas! I am sure USCIS, like every other place, has employees take time off for the holidays. Now that doesn't mean they shut down USCIS but I am sure they were working on a skelleton crew. I've seen NOA-1s take up to 60 days. that doesn't mean yours will but that also means 10 days isn't that long, considering when you filed

I'd give it a few more days, maybe a week before you start to worry

Good luck

It's been the holidays.....many probably used vacation time to extend their time off.

You have many more months of waiting besides a few days here. Get used to it....and why is she crying?

You obviously are not controlling the situation very well and probably have built up her expectations needlessly.

After the fact, always send important stuff with delivery confirmation. It is or as been the holidays, and slow and slower is the name of the game here patience, hopefully you asked for text or email response by sending the forms. It took over a month for our check to clear.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

We submitted our application on Dec 29th with delivery confirmation. The package was received on Dec 31th.

No NOA1 yet. As other people have said, it is a holiday season, give it a week more before calling them.

also, after you lost your package the first time, you should have learned to send with delivery confirmation. Lesson learned.

It's only been 10 days. Breathe. Relax. There is months to go before waiting is over.

Yea i understand that NOA2 will most probably take forever, but I thought that NOA1 at least would not! Do you get NOA1 from the SC that's gona process your papers?

And I saw a couple of ppl here who got their NOA1 before the new years when their papers were actually sent at the same time with ours which makes me think we are having a problem here...

Have you ever tried ordering 2 things off the internet at the same time, one takes a week, the other one almost 2 weeks? Then realizing that the last one had to travel across the country on ground.

It took 20 days to receive NOA1 for me, and and one day less with email notification. Hang in there. If you haven't heard anything within 30 days of USCIS receiving the petition then call them. It's not that you're not allowed to call them now but odds are that you won't gain anything from it other than being told it has just been the holidays and to call back.

ALWAYS make sure there's cash in your account for purposes like this - you're dealing with someone who doesn't care if you lack 10 or 500 dollars, all they care about is cashing the check. You're both in for a long wait, we've all been there. Getting frustrated now isn't the best start. Calm down and explain to your fiancee(congrats!) it takes time due to the holidays. Flash the NOA1 to her all you want when receiving it :)
