DOS will never tell you what is going on with your case until the embassy is ready to either issue or deny the visa. They will not tell you if it is in security clearance.

When your case is in AP the embassy has not made a decision on the visa. You are waiting to find out what will happen.

Today Embassy reply of my email

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please refer to our email of May 17, 2013. This email clearly indicates the admin processing situation in your case. Unless this situation has changed, we will not have a reason to get back to you or review this case again. May we remind that the said visa application cannot be processed any further while the admin processing is pending.

Yours truly,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Hi everyone on VJ,

I have been a silent reader of this forum. I have researched alot on the internet and according to my knowledge that is based on something ! I know more then 40 cases who had interviews in 2011 are still pending for Admin proccessing and most are from ISB embassy. SO there are plenty on the boat, people who are in AP please do'nt loose hope. ISB is famous for longer AP, ohh GOD please help us and have mercy on people who are stucked in torment AP.

Their email replys, as useless as always.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for contacting the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. We appreciate your interest in traveling to the United States.

Your visa application is undergoing routine but required administrative processing, an integral part of the visa adjudication and issuance process that can be neither waived nor expedited. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 to 90 days of the visa interview; however it is difficult to predict the amount of time it will take. The timing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.

Please be assured that we are aware of your concerns and will process the application to completion as quickly as possible in accordance with U.S. law. We recognize that this process can be frustrating for applicants and regret any inconvenience. Once the administrative processing is complete, we will contact you.

For additional information, please consult our website.

Sincerely,

Nonimmigrant Visa Unit

Hey guys,

I have been missing in action for a while, I hope some people have gotten there visa issued there were in AP. My wife and I had our Adjustment of Status Interview a few weeks ago. It went well.... considering the fact i forgot our wedding date :D The agent we had at the office was super nice and the interview was more of a socializing meeting then anything else. My wifes Green card was requested and sent to be printed... inshallah she should get it within a few days.

Once again if anyone needs some help with filing the Documents or have some questions contact me I am always willing to help or guide.

Today I called DOS again. They told me the same things, AP and no documents needed, cant tell how long it will be. I asked if I could talk to anyone over her head, after a pause she said no. I asked what exactly is going on in the case if there are no documents needed, she said that is all confidential and she can't tell me. Then I said well how do I know if I should go back to Pakistan or just wait it out here, as cases can take 6 months and more. She said right away oh no your case is not going to take 6 months. I asked her how does she really know that or is just giving standard time frame. She said no I can see that you have a very good case and its not going to take 6 months. She said very firmly both the times that it won't take 6 months.

Do any of you really believe that she meant this? How can she tell that it won't take 6 months when they keep repeating there is no way to know how long it is going to take? I'm confused unsure.png I don't know if I should wait or pack up and move.

USCIS I-130 Petition for Spouse

September 2012: Filed from abroad to Chicago Lockbox

4 days later: NOA1, Routed to California Service Center

7 days later: Transferred because of new jurisdiction

5 days later: Case Status changed to: Under processing at USCIS office

NOA2 arrived 78 days after NOA1 :)

*I-130 Approval Notice hardcopy finally received in Pakistan, the only notice that arrived.

DOS people do sometimes give out incorrect information. A lady at DOS told me our AP was over. I got so excited until I called back and another visa specialist told me we were still in AP.

Just remember if you do go to live in Pakistan that your documents expire after one year and the embassy can ask for a new affidavit of support. Have a co-sponsor lined up.

Made my first inquiry as its has been three months since the interview and got the generic response that others get.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our record indicates that the subject immigrant visa case is still pending under administrative processing. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to predict as to how long it still may take. However as soon as this process has completed, we will contact the applicant using the contact information he has provided on his form DS-230. If he has not heard from our office after six months, please have him contact our office using the web based email form available on the website of the American Embassy.

Yours truly,

Immigrant Visa Unit
