how do you know your approval was down to contacting your congressman and not just because USCIS would of approved it on that day anyway??

My congressman aid send an email to vsc and also forwarded the copy of email to me. Vsc replied them back and said they will expedite the process. That email was also forwarded to me by congressman office and a day later I was approved. So I.strongly beleive it was the help of the congressman office inquiry. Cuz everytime I called USCIS I was told to wait certain days so they can put service request.

After how many days past your 5 month mark did you contact your congressman. Since it is the holidays, I'm going to wait until after the New Years before I send them an email and call. Hopefully, my case will get expedited and get approved by the time my 6 month mark rolls around.

I tried my congressman office when I was 6 months and 3 weeks into waiting. congressman aid was able to expedite my case at vsc and I was approved the next day after expedite.

Trueeeeee!

There isn't anything they can do. They can make an inquiry, the same as you can. There is no way to push them harder. All you can do is wait.

Often times, the cases that get approved in 5 days or less with the aid of the congressman is due to the fact that these people were at 6 months or longer.

There are numerous cases stated on the boards where people who try and solicit help at 5 months and 1 week, and nothing happens.

I have also seen it quoted several times on the boards that it is not until after 180 days that any measures for inquiry will be seriously taken at CSC/VSC. (Though someone may have to correct me or clarify me on this...cause I can't remember the threads I've seen that quoted in)

I've read in the past few weeks, several cases where people called CSC at 5 months and some odd days and were told that the processing date is June 16th. Which basically means nothing can be done for any applications after that date. Furthermore, some people do inquiries and they are told to wait an additional 90 days for action. I read one such case where the person also went to their congressman and the congressman was given the same information.

....

Basically, my point is that it's hard to tell 1) how much the congressman can actually do and 2) that their help is better solicited (it seems) for people who've had to wait 6months or more.

At 5 months, I continue to say....be patient and wait it out a few more weeks. (And before anyone says "easier said than done" ... I'm currently waiting for our NOA2 as well).

this is why quite a few people including myself will tell you to just leave it be and dont call them or email them or anything else. every time you check your status, every call you make, every email you send... you just end up more and more frustrated when you dont get the answers that you are looking for.

i admit that i havent been waiting as long as you but do yourself a big favour (or favor if your american) and stop worrying about it... it will come :)

We've been waiting 171 days since USCIC got our petition and still nothing. We also contacted local congressman, don't know if it will help or not, but we're trying to do everything we can, because it takes so long time! CSC makes me annoyed by them because they're lately approving many couples from middle and even the end of July, when some June filers still waiting and listening their lie that they're processing June 16th now... :bonk: [it's Victor from Russia]
