I don't think it matters really. Both are close enough that they have a chance with things changing over the next year.

I personally think McCain had a decent shot had they chosen a better running mate for instance (and hadn't damaged the perception that he was a moderate for the sake of the far right)

These polls assume all the "I voted for Obama because of his policies" people will show up in '12.

They won't.

Its hard to believe anyone can lose to Obama, he is a total failure, ZERO leadership. He is like a tumor on the country. He even stated recently that he is learning as he goes. LOL what a disgrace to the office. A cashier at McDonalds learns as they go, not the President Of the USA, most powerful person in the world. He wasn't qualified from day 1. This country better wake up, its almost too late.

You're assuming that these 49% up there on the left will actually get to cast their votes. If all goes to plan, enough will have been blocked from voting.

By who and how are they being blocked?

Voter ID laws?

Oh well...illegal aliens and legal residents that are not US citizens aren't supposed to be able to vote anyway. So what's the beef? Why are the Dems against steps to curb voter fraud?

Sounds about like me walking in the university part of town and the youngsters are out there with their ACLU shirts on. They're directly engaging everyone and having them sign a petition. I walk right up to them, say good afternoon, yet there is no invitation for me.

Must've been the 2nd Amendment March T-shirt I was wearing. Nothing says, "No, I won't sign your petition" like an AR-15 emblazoned across your chest. Which is too bad too. Sometimes the ACLU does good work.

LOL what a disgrace to the office. A cashier at McDonalds learns as they go, not the President Of the USA, most powerful person in the world. He wasn't qualified from day 1. Yeah,

Mr. O. is not my favorite Prez either. I so wish he had less corporate ties, bigger balls, and didn't always try to play with the Reptilians. But he is still a million, billion, trillion, gazillion times better than the best Reptilian candidate right now.

So what has Obama actually done in the past 3 years?

One of the most irritating things I hear these days is the idea that President Obama is really no different than Bush, or that he's a "disappointment." Both of those characterizations are flat ignorant. If you truly believe that, you're in serious denial, and you can't be paying very close attention. In fairness, perhaps you were in a coma for the eight Bush Years, and if so, I forgive you. But please join the real world. So far, this president has done most of what he said he would do if elected, and he's not even through his first term. Imagine what he could have done by now if we supported him, and gave him a Congress that doesn't look at him as if he's the demon seed.

Not only is he NOT a "failure," he's pretty much the opposite. And no, I don't just say that because he took out Osama bin Laden and helped Libya determine their own destiny for the first time in a while.

Is he perfect? No, he's human. Does he deserve some criticism? Sure. But criticism about certain specific problems is one thing; taking on an overall "Obama sucks" meme not only has the potential to put another Bush into power, but it's also a lie. Just because you wanted a president who would give you a unicorn that farts the Star Spangled Banner, doesn't mean he's not doing well at the job we hired him for.

What follows is a PARTIAL list of Obama's accomplishments so far. Unlike many such lists, there is a link to a citation supporting every single one.

Anytime someone, right OR left, tells you Obama sucks, or is a "disappointment," show them this list and tell them to kiss a part of your body not usually considered pleasant to kiss.

The first section alone should make them sit down and shut up.

Legislative Prowess

Despite the characterizations of some, Obama's success rate in winning congressional votes on issues was an unprecedented 96.7% for his first year in office. Though he is often cited as superior to Obama, President Lyndon Johnson's success rate in 1965 was only 93%. http://n.pr/i3d7cY

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
