I had another child born this year(August), do I count as a dependent on the I-864?

To help me understand:

Are newborn dependent children tied to tax years, meaning if I didn't claim her on 2011 tax, I won't claim her on the I-864?

If you are a US Citizen , i read somewhere that you can claim an exemption for the new born on the I-864 .But you have to file the I-864W for the baby

I don't know what the other poster is talking about. ALL children under 21, regardless of where they live or whether you claim them on taxes, count in household size. If you claim children over 21 on taxes then they're counted of course.

So yes. The baby counts.

Ummm no. The child doesn't not need an I-864W. The I-864W is completed when the immigrant has fulfilled their 40 quarters of work (such as lived in the US on a work visa, or whatever) and therefore an I-864 isn't needed.

Yes, the new baby must be included in your household count on the I-864. Period, full-stop.

Yes, I got it now. BTW she already has her US Passport via CRBA so we are good to go there.
