I am 7.5 months into a K1 visa application . It is at the Vermont Service Center . They received my application April 11th of this year. In October I was sent a Request for evidence . I promptly responded , and they informed me they had received the requested evidence on September 7th of this year . Now , I am stuck in this "Request for evidence response review " hell, and just waiting and stressing out . I have done a service request, and just today filed another with a tier 2 officer , as well as directly wrote the Vermont service center requesting information as to why I am almost 2 months outside of normal processing time. Today I contacted my Congressman to see if he could get a answer . What could be the reason this is taking so long ? I figure if there was a problem then they would just deny it , or if information was lacking ( which I am almost certain it is not ) I would of been contacted . Has anyone experienced this before ? What reasons could cause this long of a delay for approval ?

We are with you in this RFE hell. We got our RFE after 5 months of waiting. The document they requested took 3 weeks or so to acquire. We have made a service request as well as the congresswoman inquiry. All she was told is that they have 60 days to process after they receive the RFE evidence. So where are all of us..WAITING until THEY make up their minds to process our files.

Let's just hang in this together.

I am passed the 60 days . 60 days was up November 7th, and the only response i received after I inquired with the customer service center was that my case was still pending and in the RFE response review . I feel like I am gonna be looking at 90 days total , and this is all gonna fall around the holidays , both here in the US and in Japan where my Fiance is .

Hate to tell you but you are NOT outside the "normal processing time" Your case was processed normally and was adjudicated and found lacking, that is why you got an RFE. All bets are off now. RFEs can add quite a bit of time to a case. Had your petition filing been complete you would have had an approval rather than an RFE.

Once adjudicated, USCIS has "met" their "obligation" Besides the timeframe is not in any way guaranteed. It is simply a "goal"

I cannot answer why it would take so long without a detailed explanation of the RFE and what you sent in response.

1) A tier 2 officer made me aware it is outside normal processing time actually . 2) the requested information was that I did not put the location of where the pictures were taken , but all other information was included . When I spoke with immigration today, a service request was presented (again) for information regarding my case , and the tier 2 officer specifically stated it was in regards to my case being outside of normal processing time, as well as three other operators and another tier 2 officer I spoke with a few weeks ago also saying my case was outside of normal processing time . And the RFE response was received by immigration over 70 days ago . I was told the normal processing time is 5-6.5 months for a K1 fiance visa through the Vermont Service Center .

You are waiting so long because both you and the petitioner background checks are still being processed .The background checks takes longer for some ,Each case is different . I have read where some took almost 8 mths to be approved . Hang in there and hope for the best ,
