I am writing to request information on the next steps I must take, if any at all. I have a I-130 visa petition pending. I am married to a Jordanian and am currently in Jordan for a visit. My husband and I wanted to amend and add some terms to the Jordanian marriage contract. The Jordanian court told us that in order to do so, we must divorce under Jordan Sharia law and then prepare a new marriage contract with our new terms. We did so on October 27, 2011 and am now in the lengthy process of doing another Jordanian marriage. I have not authenticated the divorce certificate of Jordan (meaning I have not gotten it stamped from their foreign ministry). My questions are:

1. Do I need to submit my new marriage contract to add to my I-130 file?

2. Because I did a divorce to amend terms in Jordan, does this terminate my current petition in the United States?

***** Moving from CR-1 to MENA forum as question is country specific *****

OP- it sounds like you legally divorced and re-married, which makes your current I-130 invalid and you'd need to start again, pay all the fees again etc. However, hopefully some people from Jordan with more local knowledge can confirm or otherwise.

i may be wrong but i think because you have divorced that has stopped your current I-130 file dead in it's tracks and will have to re start an entirly new application even though you are remarrying the same person

I have no idea why you would do such a thing but do not forget to include details of the divorce in any new petition.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

If you divorced and remarried, then your old petition is void and you need to cancel it and reapply.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
