May you share your experience with AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon, or any others regarding Plans, extra prices, network coverage, customer service,...etc.

As well, if I relocated from NY to any oil states such as Texas, California, Gulf of Mexico, North Dacota,...what will be the coverage of each one?

Thanks

First, I have no idea what you mean about oil states. Do you mean the coast? That has nothing to do with the satellites for the providers you've posted. AT&T and T-Mobile will merge soon, so they will be one company. I personally have had At&T and Verizon because their employees are organized and I support labor unions. So I have both: my work mobile is AT&T and my personal mobile is Verizon. If you want to communicate to Egypt, use Verizon. Get a worlwide phone. iPhone's are NOT worldwide phones . I had that specific problem. I had an iPhone and was not able to use it in Egypt because the satellites do not support its technology. So now I have a Verizon's Droid. It works wherever I go. I've used it in Egypt, Paris, Mexico... everywhere.

On that same token, do not even consider Sprint. My experience was the worst!

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Each provider's web site has maps on their coverage area. You can see how strong/weak the signal would be in & around your home, and wherever else you want.

I went with AT&T because signal strength was strong where I needed it to be & the minute/data plan was better for me(compared to Verizon).

can u send/receive text from/to Egypt?

i'm choosing between tmobile & verizon, but i think verizon is higher in cost.

Verizon or AT&T. They both have nationwide coverage just about any where in the country. Verizon is more expensive than AT&T but they have spots that roam and are considered dead spots. (the southern half of Kentucky is one place that comes to mind) AT&T will work just about any where but has crappy customer service.

Sprint/Nextel doesn't work unless you are close to a larger town or on an interstate. It will not work out in the 'boon docks'

Nope, Verizon is lower by far. T-Mobile and AT&T will charge you from the moment you hit 'send' instead of from the moment the call is anwered. That's the #1 reason I switched. The second reason was that I had an iPhone and it's not a worldwide phone.

Yes, you can send text messages, you will see the missed calls with the proper number and you can call directly. All you have to do is enroll in the international program. They'll explain that. AND, the Droids have skype so instead calling straight from your phone, you can log into skype and make the call. It works exactly as if you call from your computer.

I agree with you mostly with everything, except the cost. I literally cut my bill in half when I switched from AT&T to Verizon. There again, I call Egypt and other countries everyday.

Verizon cost really higher than T-mobile

Family plan for 2 lines unlimited text & minutes costs $100/month @ T-mobile

while the same plan costs $150 @ verizon

Both without data

I think this is too much? or are there any hidden costs 2 T-mobile???

If you're worried about costs you might want to consider prepaid plans such as Cricket, Simple Mobile and H20. I've had Cricket for almost a year and it's been alright. Although the service could be better, I can't complain paying only $55 for a Blackberry Plan with unlimited Talk, Text & Web, oh and unlimited International Texting. International call quality is good too, I just reload the flex bucket and call my friends in Nicaragua.

I'm looking to switch to Simple Mobile which runs on the T-Mobile network because they use GSM phones and I personally like GSM phones better. Those are the ones that you insert a SIM card. In Nicaragua all cell phone companies use these meaning you can change your phone whenever you want without having to enter all of your contacts again because they are saved on the SIM card. I'm testing Simple Mobile with a $25 plan for 15 days with unlimited talk and text and it's been pretty great so far. They even gave me $5 for international calling for free. You can check their coverage areas on their website.
