so knowing what we know now, for those of us that's already on our journey's, would you have went the other route...what i mean is regardless of the other reasons we're chosing to marry the way we're choosing to marry, due to how immigration operate would you have done it the other way around??? I feel like in these cases immigration should do there best to move quicker in bringing us together with our love ones...but anywho...what do you guys think???

I chose K1...I almost went the CR-1 route and then everone explained to me that K1 was quicker so for me it was a no brainer.

The only reason I would want to do the CR1 route and at first was going that route was because you get to skip the AOS part and in the end it's most cost effective as well as the person gets the EAD or GC when they arrive so.... BUT my fiance and I couldn't imagine just getting married and than having to leave each other after our honey moon until god knows when. Also I didnt like the fact of having to plan a wedding overseas and not being able to have control of what I wanted. Not fun... So k1 it was

We went the K3/CR1 route in 2008. We actually did both and when we went for the interview, we had them process the CR1 instead of the K3 visa. For us, this was the better choice. When my husband arrived in the US, he was able to immediately begin looking for work, which was important to him. It also gave us a break from USCIS for 2 yrs instead of having to adjust status after he arrived. While we were apart, I was able to visit him regularly which helped as well.

I think it really depends on each couple's unique situation.

At the time we filed the wait for CR1 was about half the time for K3. There were other things that made CR1 more appeaking as well. Once my hubby was finally able to be here full time he could get a job immediately and we were able to visit each other during the 6 months we had to wait for the visa. That said, walking away from my husband and going home alone a few days after we wed was heartbreaking. Having him here every day now makes it all seem worth it!

You don't really skip AOS but you do delay it. We are just about to do that now before his 2nd anniversary in the US. Then we can either renew in 10 yrs or he can get citizenship.

This is not correct. What you are about to do is Removal of Conditions on Permanent Residency (ROC), not Adjustment of Status.
