two divorces - two decrees???

Hey everyone

my fiance and me we want to file the petition real soon. I have a question about the divorce decree. He has been married twice. The first one is long time ago. Do we still need two divorce decrees? Or is it enough to just give the last one? Because he couldn't marry his Ex wife if he hadn't been divorced right?

You are going to need to submit both decrees.

If he doesn't he can easily get it from the county in which the divorce occurred.

Of course he doesn't have it. The problem is. His divorce was in New York. He is now living in Florida. Can he get it without traveling there? Just call the court or send them a letter?

He is not living in this state anymore. What are we doing now? Does he have to go there or can he order it by calling them or sending a letter?

Yes, certainly. He needs to call the Circuit Clerk's office in the county wherein the divorce was finalized.

For clarity, the Clerk's office may go by another name. Registrar or who knows exactly what. He should know as he lived in the area.

Yes. You need TWO divorce decrees.

Of course he doesn't have it. The problem is. His divorce was in New York. He is now living in Florida. Can he get it without traveling there? Just call the court or send them a letter?

Yes, they are public records, anyone can get one. Call the clerk of the court

I've saw on here where people have gotten rfe letter because they didnt give a decree for each divorce.
