Today was my fiances interview...it went well, but they didnt (yet) issue the visa because they asked for more proof of relationship. Not sure what else to submit - we submitted 2 photo albums full of photos, 30 pages of call records & a bunch of letters/cards...We both submitted letters of intent as well. The document they gave my fiance says they would like notarized documents from our parents stating their views on the engagement, a list of guests at our engagement ceremony (we havent had one!)...i'm not sure what to do...anybody had this problem? any tips? PLEASE help, we are feeling so discouraged...but still holding on to hope!! PLEASE help

Wow, your fiancee's documents should have been enough. They must have be very very strict there.

But are the call records, letters or evidences she showed are the ones dated AFTER you filed the petition? That's for ongoing relationship.

Try to add more Screenshots, chat's skype, email.

We are trying to remain calm....was hoping today would be the last day we'd have to deal with visa stuff for a bit!!

Are you both Indian? Is there any noticeable age difference? Are you a female and is your fiancé the male (who needs the visa) all these could cause them to ask for more proof.

Reason I am asking is that if they are asking for notarized letters on both your parents view of the marriage then obviously they believe something is a little peculiar about your situation in relation to Indian customs.

They have tolds you what they want.

Get notarized statements from your parents stating their views on the engagement and provide an explanation why you did not have an engagement ceremony. If there is anything else they ask for...provide it OR an explanation why you cannot.

well, it isn't. So remain calm and provide what they ask for.

It wasn't enough because this is the Indian consulate, not PI. There is clearly something that they do not feel is "kosher". I do not know what it is but there is no point in guessing when they have specifically stated what they want.

Providing things they have not asked for (screenshots, skype chats, email) is fine but absolutely useless unless you also provide what they have asked for.

The OP needs to speak to thier parents today and get the letters done and provide a logical explanation why they did not have an engagement ceremony. Obviously this is important for this particular consulate with this particular case.

My fiancee went through the same thing at the New Delhi embassy for the K1 visa, but got the visa after she submitted the documents, she was issued a white 221g that submit more documents, I believe they asked for seven items on the paper. You must have affidavits from your fiancees family in India stating the engagement took place and that they approve of her relationship with you, also that they have no objections that your fiancee will marry you in the US and not in India. Your parents here in the US must write a letter and get it notarized, the letter must state that your parents agree with your relationship and acknowledge that you were engaged. You need a fiance letter of intent for yourself and foreign fiancee which states you will marry each other within 90 days of entering the United States, you need voters list for the last 5 years and voter Id card, you need engagement photo album, phone records, emails, any mail you sent one another. I know for a fact that the new Delhi embassy gives a huge problem to K1 filers if they did not have a proper engagement ceremony in India. You will definitely need a guest list with names and phone numbers. If you did not have a ceremony then both you and your foreign fiancee need to explain that in writing and get it notarized. Also you need a letter that explains how you met and why you decided to get engaged, your foreign fiancee will need to do the same, and it has to be notarized, for the letter write as much detail as you can and express your feelings for one another, I did all this and my fiancees visa was pproved 3 days after we submitted all the information. Also do you have the State department phone number here in America, because after you submit all this you can call that number give them your case number abd they can tell you if the visa was issued.

@hr8687 - I think we have all of that sans engagement photo album (as we have not had our engagement party yet, and are planning ot have it in the USA - we also wrote letters explaining why this is and where/when the party will be, included guest list, etc). I am so encouraged by your experience!! Thank you for sharing
