Man I really do hope VSC picks up speed... <_< Phil went through the entire interview process at that job I mentioned a while back. It's located in NY but we've been upfront with them regarding the GC and about not wanting to move until it's in our hand. My brother-in-law works there and is pretty high up so I'm hoping they'll be more lenient if they really want Phil to work there. He's gone through all the interviews and it's been 2 weeks and we haven't heard a 'yes' or 'no' yet. I just hope they don't write him off simply because of this GC nonsense. I'm already not happy with USCIS, I don't need another reason. I'd really like to move up to NY because my sisters live there and this would be the perfect opportunity for it if Phil got a job offer. C'mon VSC... don't let us down!

If it is a matter of getting the job or not do you need to wait to have it in hand? The NOA1 letter is the same as having a green card for working purposes. I realize it's a bit harder to explain to HR but it is legal.

A few things others still in this RFE limbo may find worthwhile to know. However just because this information is true for me doesn't mean it will be true for you.

1) The USCIS website still shows my wife's status: Initial Review, with a date of being last touched as of 10/14/2011. It did not update for the RFE or the green card approval.

2) Among the evidence I sent was 6 Affidavits. None of them were notarized.

3) This most recent package contained mostly new evidence and only a few of the previously submitted documents.

Pretty bold angle to work; hopefully it turns out well for both of you. My boss just waited a month or so for someone to start who had other commitments but she gave a firm starting date; immigration kinda leaves you in limbo.

Do you think it's worth it to stake your future on VSC?

NOA 2. Really?

It's not that we can't use the extension letter, I'm sure this job would be fine with that. I just don't want to move, change our address with USCIS and end up missing some important document (i.e. an RFE, interview letter or the GC itself) if, God forbid, they sent it to our old address and it didn't get forwarded or something. I know we're being overly cautious but I'd rather not risk them thinking we abandoned the case at this point if we "failed" to respond to something because we move. I'm just hoping this job will either start Phil remotely until we can move or wait for him.

The other possibility is that Phil could move up there and start while I stay here but then we have something further to prove to USCIS if we're living apart. This is just a pain.. <_<

RebeccaAndPhil,

I understand your issue as I was in the same boat few years back. Right after getting temp green card, I moved to Philly and within 2 months moved to cleveland for more stable job.

Now I am back to central NY which I consider as my home in US. My wife (USC) had to move with me all these locations. No more packing of boxes now. We haven't updated uSCIS about our moves until we have applied in Dec 11 for remvoal of conditions. USCIS sent renewal to old address (our fault). Since we know we had to apply before 2 years, we didn;t had a issue.

I work for a Fortune 200, my first interview never took place because hiring manager doesn't know what is green card is (forget about temporary or permanent). I had to call HR and apprise them about it. HR knows GC but never hired a gc holder so thet had to refer HR policy. WOW GUYS. This fortune 200 was located in central Ny and for me this is great opportunity to come back home. Luckily they didn't like other guys so they interviewed and I got selected.

I am pretty sure there are many companies that don't know what Green card is :bonk:

I wish you all the best

Thanks for sharing! It certainly is frustrating, this whole process. I mean, I understand why USCIS takes immigration so seriously but I really wish it didn't take 9+ months to remove conditions on a GC...

This is how I picture a day at VSC -> 8-9am: Let me see what I missed in this morning's paper...:reading: 9-10am: "Oh! Jane! Oh well!

You mean the request to expedite? Do you think we'd qualify for that..?

On another note: I just noticed today is our 6 month mark from our send-off date of the I-751.

I was thinking about this for people who move and don't get the RFE (if there is one):

What happened: USCIS issued an adverse decision based solely on a customer’s failure to appear at a biometrics appointment or failure to respond to an RFE, NOID, or NOIR

Why it was a mistake: USCIS determines there is evidence that the customer properly submitted a change of address prior to the issuance of the RFE, NOID, NOIR, or biometric appointment notice; howeverUSCIS sent the RFE, NOID, NOIR, or biometric appointment notice to a previous or improper address.

This allows you to get an expidite. It's item number 3.

NOA 2. Really?

Hi there, I'm an october filer and I received an RFE last week, can you please post or send me the link of affidavits samples. I didn't send them before so I'm planning to send them now.

Thank you for your great news and for sharing them

Ohh I see now! I'm definitely going to look in to this. I'm not sure how the expediting process works. Perhaps I can call and speak to someone who would tell me if our situation would qualify for expedition. Thanks! :)
