Im in the process of writing a letter of invite for my brother in law and his wife. Is there anythung in particular I should put in the letter? Is there a sample letter here on VJ? Also am I correct that my husband can not invite them because he is a conditional green card holder?

A letter of invitation while nice, is not required for a person to obtain a tourist visa to the US. What they will be required to show is strong ties to their country to show they will return. The embassy considers all applications for a tourist visa to be for immigration purposes until proven otherwise. It would be best for them to gather things such as proof of employment, rental agreements or mortgage papers, proof of property ownership, etc.

Anyone can write an invitation letter. It doesn't really mean much as belinda mentioned.

We did write one for sister in law, personally I think it helped. Just my opinion, probably you either quality or you do not.

From Nigeria letters of invitation mean little. The people will have to prove strong ties to Nigeria. Based on the results from the convention invitations they need to have the equalilvant to between 30 to 60 in hard assets and a decent job to return to. The appoval rate run less then 10 percent even with that kind of ties. If they are leaving small children behind that might help. We always see doctors , lawyers and government officials get denied for lack of strong ties.
