Hi Courtney

Morocco is tough--it takes extra time and TONS of documentation to prove your relationship, and even with everything you can think of, you may be sent back for more. Search on Morocco on this site and read everything you can find, plus everything in the embassy tab at the top of this page.

There are lots of folks here who have gone thru Morocco, and many who are still in the process...they will start showing up here, and listen to everything they say. It ain't easy.

Hi Courtney,

Welcome to VJ! :)

As others have said, CR-1 is the way to go.

Magical is not exaggerating. Morocco is one of the toughest consulates out there. Gather tons of evidence while you can and study hard about issues relating to the consulate in Morocco. Most importantly, stay strong.

Best of luck to you and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

thanks guys!!! i look forward to talking with everyone about our journey.... we will do whatever it takes and work until it is done, we love each other very much and want this more than anything. shokran!

Courtney.....welcome to VJ.

Getting married in Morocco is a process in itself. It can take up to a month to get married there. We can help you when the time comes. You will need to get a police record or FBI background search record before you go. Take birth certificate and divorce certificate, if you have ever been divorced. You will also need pay stubs, so start saving them.

Don't under-estimate how difficult the Moroccan consulate can make this process. Save everything. Best wishes.

Bolding mine. If the document is in English, then it does not need to be translated into Arabic, then back to English. If the document is in Arabic, then it will need to be translated into English.

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.

Courtney have you ever met your booyfriend before December? Just curious do you plan on marrying a man you never met in person? If this is your first trip to Morocco and you plan on marrying without any other meetings previously then I would not suggest it. Getting married on your first initial meeting is a huge "red flag" in Morocco. Alot of the women that I know that married on there first visit were denied the marriage visa and they have to go through an appeal process that takes years.
