Hello everyone,

Can someone walk me through give me a visual what they do at USCIS.? I have seen many shortcuts for NVC and there step by step and what they do. But does anyone know what they do at USCIS once they get your I-130. i mean take it apart scan it what why does it take so long 5 months really. Help me understand this so I can better prepare.

Mostly, you petition simply waits on a shelf until they get to it. There's a months long backlog at USCIS but only a couple weeks backlog at NVC. USCIS is a black hole. NVC requires interaction. If you filed an I-130, you are on either the CR1 or IR1 visa path, not the K3.

Of course there is but it's frustrating to wait in a black hole. Rest assured they have firm procedures and protocols. It's just that there is no visibility into them.

About four years ago while my husband's petition was being processed, we had VJ member who used to work at the Nebraska Service Center and filed for his fiancée. Someone actually created a thread for him to answer any questions people had regarding the process and he simply described it as this. The service centers get tons of petitions everyday and after they're opened and payment is cashed, they're put them in a box in some sort of warehouse for processing. There's only a certain number of agents working at each service center, so the petitions sits in that warehouse until someone grabs a box full of applications. They process each one and keep it at their desk until everything is cleared and then they approve it. After they're done with all the petitions they have in a box, they grab another box and so on and so forth. At least this is how the ex USCIS employee described it back then.

What takes so long is the fact that they don't have enough people to process the enormous amount of petitions they get on a daily basis. So gotta be patient.

I would ve preferred these petitions r rather treated at the beneficiaries embassy rather than the long collated application from different countries

I find both rhyme and reason with them. What is it you are having trouble understanding? Maybe we can help.
