Hey guys,

I'm a bit confused because I received another update on my case, this one dated 09/17/06 (Sunday). I was touched 9/14, 9/15 (also got a RFE mailed out to me), and another touch 9/17. Is it possible for them to work on Sundays (I really don't think so). I'm guessing maybe it has something to do with the RFE, maybe they mailed it out. WHat do you guys think?

My case was updated on the 9th of Sept (Sat.) the 14th and also yesterday the 17th (Sun.) Mine is at the VSC. I haven't seen an RFE email yet, so I am hoping that they are simply working weekends. I had checked my case status yesterday morning and it had not been updated yet. So I went back in the afternoon to look again just out of curiosty, and it had been updated. I'm not sure if there is some kind of delay in their computer system just updating the case online after it has been touched or what. It would be cool if they are working weekends...anything to speed the process so I can be with my baby sooner..

I noticed they touched cases even on Labor Day!! Apparently they are working on holidays to clear out backlog

I-751 process:

4/06/09: Mailed I-751 to VSC by Express mail

4/07/09: Received by VSC

4/17/09: Check clearance.

4/20/09: NOA1 received in mail (receipt date: 4/08/09)

4/30/09: Biometric appt. letter received (appt. on May 15th)

5/05/09: Walk-in biometric done

9/02/09: Approval Email (touch on USCUS site)

9/03/09: Approval letter received (decision date: 8/27/09)

9/09/09: Touch, but no change in status on USCIS site.

9/11/09: Green card rec'd.

Immigration employess hardly work during the week, they are one of the worest govt agencies in America. Most likey they did the update on Friday and the update to the web site was a Batch Job that was Auto run over the weekend which trigered the emails to you on Sunday.

It was probably the cleaning lady moving your file from the back stall in the women's restroom, to the front one. :no:

People say phone calls generate touches but I called USCIS and I didn't get a case update. I don't know what's up with their website...I never even received an email when I created that account.

I certainly hope you can get an approval without touches because it's been a while since my last one.

Touches don't mean anything. CSC received my petition on July 18th. I check my status on 9/18 before going to bed and I never had any touches or anything and when I logged online on the 19th, I received 2 notices saying I had been approved.

I have heard about some people on this site that only get a few touches and then comes the approval. I guess you never know, maybe the officer that got your case doesn't register touches. Hopefully you get a touch (or approval soon). :yes:

A touch is a computer term to indicate that a file has been opened for editing information. A touch will update the time and date stamp on the file only. It is possible to touch a file without ever opening it. That is all a touch does. In fact there is even a UNIX command that touches a file for this update. It is called "touch".

I would think that fewer touches would be a good thing. It would mean that your papers are in order and there is no reason to update the file on the computer or to seek further information. But from what I have been reading as I lurk here. It could be anything. But it sure is fun to speculate about. :D
