Do I understand this right ?

My wife and I have been married for 3 years. She came here on a K3. She now has a green card.

Since we have been 'continually' married for 3 years, she can now apply to become a citizen.

Am I right ... or what am I missing ?

There are several conditions that need to be met. One needs to have been married 3 years to a US citizen at the time of application and one needs to have been a permanent resident for 3 years (less 90 days) as well. So if both of those conditions have been met, then your wife may be eligible to apply for citizenship (there are other criteria as well related to physical presence and residency, etc.). If you have been married 3 years but she has not had a green card for 3 years (less 90 days as you are allowed to apply 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of the green card if you have been married 3 years already) then she will not be eligible until she meets that criteria as well.

She has to have been a GC holder for 3 years (as well as married for 3 years). The Naturalization petition can be filed no earlier than 90 days prior to the 3 year anniversary of becoming an LPR.

GC issue date + 3 years - 90 days= When she can file. Based on your signature (above) her GC date should be 7/12/09. 3 years is 7/12/12. File no earlier than 4/13/2012.

They came on a K3, so there is more time after the arrival in the US. They had to Adjust Status as well... So it will be after 7/12/12.

She has to have been a LPR for 3 years, too. I'd been married for 6 years to my USC husband by the time I could file for citizenship, but since I only came to the US 16 months after we got married and adjusted my status 19 months later, I only became eligible to file for citizenship in September of 2010.

Thanks for the replies ... she got her green card in may 2011 ... so that would make her able to apply feb 2014 ... long way away ;-(
