Anytime! Hopefully they will assist us in getting an interview date! I am going to wait for a response from them monday and then go from there! I'll let you guys know what they say!

I received a response from the Bogota Embassy this morning.. Here are the fist two paragraphs:

Thank you for your inquiry. We have not yet received this case from the National Visa Center. Often, the applicant is notified of the petition approval before we are but unfortunately, we cannot act upon a case until we have received it from the NVC. We will contact you with instructions as soon as the case arrives at the embassy.

Bogotá's Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit schedules appointments as they become available. Generally, appointments are scheduled within two to three months of receiving a case from the NVC. We use an automatic appointment system and unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate requests outside of this system.

Pretty much what I expected - if they ran around and met everyones whim that is all they would do.. but I had to try :) OK, I'm switching modes for real now.. Push this back and not watch things closely for a few weeks.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

I received an email back from our embassy today saying that they had our info and at this time they do not have any more openings for October. They said that occassionally they do have cancelations and reschedule requests so if a date becomes available they will notify us. Otherwise we will have our interview 1st week of November. Hubby is very sad but I am going to see if work will allow me to have an extended vacation so I can still see Georgia in October!

My birthday is this upcoming weekend so I am going to relax, celebrate and ring in October on a positive note! The end of this road has finally come and another few weeks wont hurt anything except my chances of hiking in the caves in Georgia :-( Please snow hold off as long as possible for me!

This is what they wrote me:

"Thank you for your inquiry. We have not yet received your husband’s case from the National Visa Center. Often, the applicant is notified of the petition approval before we are but unfortunately, we cannot act upon a case until we have received it from the NVC. We will contact your husband with instructions as soon as the case arrives at the embassy.

Bogotá's Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit schedules appointments as they become available. Generally, appointments are scheduled within two to three months of receiving a case from the NVC. You are correct in that October appointments are fully booked and it will be difficult to fit your husband in, particularly since we do not yet have his case. Regretfully, October does look unlikely in his case. We do understand that you are anxious to move forward in this process and we will act on the case as soon as it arrives.

If you both wish to get a head start on the process, download the readiness forms, see if his appointment has been scheduled, or learn more about the immigrant visa process, you may refer to our website at: http://bogota.usembassy.gov/iv-appointments.html.

You will find an instruction packet on the website with detailed information on how to prepare for the interview. However, please do not proceed with sending in the readiness forms until you have heard from us as we will not be able to do anything with them if the case is not yet here."

The AVR system updated to say that our case was closed on 09/15/2011. It does at least feel good to hear that. See y'all in a few weeks with an interview date!

Good luck to all of you finishing up the NVC process. Get those documents in so you can be scheduled for November too!

You can request for an early appointment, but you need a really really good reason:

For early appointment requests and visa scheduling issues: IVMNLAppointments@state.gov

Please note, however, that early appointment requests may only be approved on a case to case basis (i.e., aging out cases, or in cases involving personal or medical emergencies), and only if visa interview slots are available.

I spoke with NVC yesterday and our case is closed and they "tried" to schedule our interview. They said they were told there werent any days available in October. This is a line of ####### because the embassy told me there is plenty of availability. NVC said "Well we only schedule interviews at certain times and will not try to reschedule until 1st or 2nd week of October". She told me to email the embassy our info and inform them that our case is complete and waiting for interview scheduling and to request an October date. She said the embassy will then call and request our package if there are appointments still available! Im gonna give it a try!

On a good note our case flew through NVC so I do feel blessed to have made it this far already! Thanks to everyone who has helped me along!

I got my case closed Sept 21!

Called NVC couple times last week, they also said they TRIED to schedule, and said all I could do was wait! The case is not even in the Embassy by this time, so as a matter of fact, what CAN I do?

They never even told me that we could contact the embassy ourselves?

I am sooo lost on what to do right now?

Unfortunately all you can really do in this situation is wait for the NVC to contact you.

Basically the Embassy will send available interview dates to the NVC, the NVC will then assign different applicants to different dates. If the NVC have filled all the dates given to them by the Embassy their hands are tied, there is nothing you can do.

You may hear back from them in a week or the second week of October or whenever, either way you will hear from them eventually.

WHEN you do hear from the NVC with an interview date you can then email the Embassy directly to reschedule the interview, if you have a good reason. I hope this helps and good luck on the rest of your journey.
