Okay folks, second silly question of the evening here but one that has been troubling me because like most things in life it is the littlest things that can trip you up! :)

So I wondered if there is any "special" way you are supposed to secure your pack i.e. any special fixings you are meant to use to hold all your papers together?

Also anything you can't do such as use highlighters or post-it notes or anything that seems silly to me but makes sense to those handling these applications everyday?

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere in the forums...do just point me in the right direction if necessary - I won't be offended.

Thanks,

Zoe

Ours is paperclipped together. Like, all the emails are together, highlighted dates on them, put a post saying it was email correspondences. etc.

I know your photo bags have to be labled.

Here, have a look at this:

It helped me, but Im still askin' a load of questions!

I put the whole package in one folder but the papers that has to be together were stapled like the applications itself (it is 3 pages) and I clip all of them with a bigger black clipper in the order I put on the outline of the cover page.

Good Luck

I divided everything up into sections: *emails, *letters, *pictures, *forms, *documentation of me, him, divorce, etc. I used post-its and highlighted things, too. I labeled all pics including as mentioned above the baggied passport photos and stapled mine to my G325A and his to his G325A. Everything else was loose and put in a gigantic manila envelope. I just sent mine off (7/15/11)so will have to let you know if I have any issues.

7/15/11 Sent K1 Petition to Lockbox

8/10/11 STILL NO NOA1!

8/12/11 Called USCIS to get receipt number-NOA1 will be resent

8/16/11 Received NOA1 with date of 7/20/11

1/3/12 NOA2!!!

1/12/12 Got email notice we are through the NVC.

I used the ACCO fasteners mentioned in that link. They're not required, but they didn't hurt -- got NOA2 yesterday. :)

When I put my packet together, I used the following list and put everything in this order. I paper clipped the check to the cover letter, but I stapled things of the same together. For example: plane tickets, flight itineraries and copies of his ESTA visas were all stapled together in order, by date. All the pages of the copy of my passport were stapled together, and I did the same with his. Also, phone bills were all stapled together, emails, etc. I also highlighted my phone number and his phone number on our phone bills.

Then, I used little post-it notes to identify each grouping. I think they appreciate anything you can do to organize everything, as I'm sure that everyone's packet looks a bit different.

Here's the list I used (it's actually the exact list from my cover letter...you can add or delete items as needed):

Contents include:

- Payment in the amount of $340

- I-129F

- I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person

- G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner)

- G-325A and passport style photo (Beneficiary)

- US Passport (Petitioner)

- UK Passport (Beneficiary)

- Divorce Decree (Beneficiary)

- Certificate of No Impediment (Beneficiary)

- Letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner and Beneficiary)

- Proof of having met in person in the past two years (photos, flight itineraries, plane

ticket stubs, ESTA Visa Approvals)

- Proof of ongoing relationship (phone bills, e-mails)

- G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

My petition was approved without any problem and no RFE's. :)

Good luck!!

As mentioned by others - I used ACCO fasteners to compile the entire document. Anything that had more than one paper (ie I-129f form) I stapled. I also printed off divider papers which followed the list of included documents in the cover letter. I highlighted like crazy - but did not use post-it notes b/c I was afraid they would fall off.

I think to each their own, as long as its organized in somewhat of a logical manner.

Like a lot of people, I also used ACCO fastners. However, I did not staple anything. Some places don't like that (reason being, if they have to separate pages of a document...removing staples is not fast and efficient unless ripping apart...which no one wants to do that to an official document). So any documents that needed to be together, I paper clipped.

I also used the cover letter template from this site and modified it to my package contents.

Think of it this way, these people are looking at documents everyday. They'll have to sort through it. What will be easiest for them to sort through? :)

And good luck with your filing!! :)
