Consulate Review: Bolivia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 19, 2011
Embassy Review : The consulate directed all comunication toward me (the petitioner) via email, and then I shared the details with my fiancee. I was glad about this, and not having to worry about the unreliable mail delivery in Bolivia. As we were preparing the documentation to send in ahead of her interview, I had a couple questions. I emailed the embassy and they were extremely responsive and courteous in replying.

My fiancee's interview was scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon. She arrived plenty early, and was sent away by a security guard and told to return 15 minutes before her appointment. When she entered, she was directed to sit and wait. Eventually a lady called her up, had her fill out our names on form, and asked her only one question: How did we meet? My fiancee took the opportunity to give a good explanation of our background. She also attempted to show additional physical evidence she had brought (ie, gifts sent from my parents) but the lady was not interested in seeing it. My fiancee was sent back to the waiting area, and did not know whether things had gone well or not.

A few minutes later, the same lady and another man called my fiancee up to a counter. They told her that her visa was approved and began going through the details. They kept her passport to put in the visa stamp, and sent it the next day to the DHL office in Santa Cruz (of which they informed me again via email). DHL was supposed to call my fiancee when they received it, which they never did... but that's their fault, and not the embassy's.

All in all, it was a fairly pleasant experience (at least for me) and the interview was simpler than we were expecting. I'd like to think that's because I supplied them with plenty of thorough, well-organized evidence.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
