I finally have gotten to the US, with my permanent residency, co sponsored by my father in law. We are trying to find work but i have only been here a few week or so. Would it be a problem for us to be using food stamps or would this cause some kind of trouble with my permanent residency.

I see no Timeline in your case. I believe the USC can apply as a individual but not count for Food Stamps for a family of 2 . Members: add.. I'm unsure!

WIC is exempt, as far as I know (from WIC officials). But it also varies by state. In some states LRPs can get free health insurance, so may be something else too.

Download, print, and read the I-864, if you can make heads or tails out of it. But guaranteed to scare the hell out of the sponsor. In theory at least, that sponsor is suppose to be capable of supporting the immigrant.

In doing some research on this, Medicaid seems to be exempt. was of concerned to me, because if even if you have health insurance on those you were supporting, if say hit by a hit and run driver, will get kicked off your policy after a year due to a precondition. That already happened to me in my family, but had to blow my life insurance policy, IRA, and savings account first before my dependent was eligible. That didn't take long with the outrageous medical expenses.

One part I did enjoy reading, this contract with the US government expires once my gals received their US citizenship, but also expires if working a minimum number of hours for ten years.

Love is crazy, signed it anyway without hesitation, but was 99.99% sure I was marrying the right one.

Says not only the government, by private as well, wondered how they could prove that if you stood at a street corner with your hat turned upsidedown, asking for a few cents. Ha, always looking for loop holes.

That precondition ####### was part of Regan's plan of deregulation, but he never said that. Still don't know if Obama stopped that, you can be paying outrageous health insurance for years without every having a claim. Also see on my latest plan, insurance company will buy you a plane ticket for a foreign country if they can save a couple of bucks. That could be good to give our AMA some competition.

I gather that you've come on an IR1 or K3? You may find some comments harsh here and I realize you're not looking for any judgement calls, but your co-sponsor is responsible for you. That is what he signed up for in helping co-sponsor you. There are certainly some hard times these days.

Good luck
