i agree. but, i figured since people are throwing the blame around.....

The blame rests squarely on all of us. We're the idiots who elected those who keep voting in favor of this mess and taking us further on down the crapper. If we want to point fingers, we better be standing in front of a mirror before we do.

The only way out is for us to elect folks who take action to stop the waste and return government to it's rightful place in our life. In the meantime we can ALL do our part to educate folks on government's proper role and hold each other accountable to such.

Well that little "debate" ought to do wonders for the stock market tomorrow. I feel less optimistic than I did before this evening now.

Zombies will be more like it.

It's seriously scary to think what'll happen in the urban areas only a week or two after the food trucks stop rolling in and the power stays off.

Wait...what...why is my truck going to stop rolling?blink.gif

The President sounded a bit more persuasive- definitely to the Independents. Boehner's "That is just not going to happen" comment reinforced the President's assertion that they are uncompromising.

I don't buy that Moody's is going to downgrade the USs credit rating either if any deal -even a measly 6 month extension- is reached. That would be a bit catastrophic for the world and I would think a US based company, regardless of how neutral they try to seem, wouldn't take that lightly.

The President even said that Ronald Reagan raised the debt ceiling 17 times. By my math that's more than once every 6 months and we made it through just fine, so what's the big deal?

Your bumming me out man. I'm hoping for a big time depression followed with riots, total chaos and some house cleaning vigilante style. Like a complete turn around.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You could go out and max out all of your credit cards on a bunch of stuff that you really don't need, that only you like and maybe create riots and chaos within your own household. Might not be any more house cleaning after that though.

lol...the golden rule in this house is credit cards only get used for airline tickets (air miles) and car rentals. Money owed on our four credit cards atm "0.00". :)

What I heard was the two major negotiators for each side saying they don't agree on anything important.

There is one thing that caught my ear, and I just played it back to make sure. Obama said

"Keep in mind that under a balanced approach, the 98% of Americans who make under $250,000 a year would see no tax increase at all".

I thought he was only going after millionaires and billionaires and hedge fund managers. This seems to be lowering the bar from the last thing I heard, and could be something Republicans can pounce on.

250K has always been his divider between rich and poor.

Personally, I'd much prefer to see 500K or 1M. I know too many 250K households around here who simply aren't rich.
