I love how someone pointed out that Canadians are "peace keepers." Yeah, I bet you wouldn't be such peace keepers if you didn't have the U.S. willing to, if ever needed, fight wars to protect you. I may miss my family in Ontario, but I definitely don't miss you arrogant, American-bashing Canadians.

As opposed to arrogant, Canadian-bashing Americans ;)

Can't say I've met too many Canadian-bashing Americans.

Oh give me a break. We've got courageous men and women fighting side by side with American and other international troops in Afghanistan as we speak, and dying for the cause too. So hush your mouth about our troops, many of whom have served overseas in peacekeeping missions for 50+ years now.

I hear the Canadian "army" is up to, what, 37 troops now?

:P

Not even remotely humourous.

My point is - the number of anti-Americans I met while living in Canada was shocking. All I heard about was how evil GWB and war is, yet Canada wouldn't have a prayer if someone attacked it and the US didn't defend it.

Here's a hint - much of the rest of the world thinks alike. Its like looking into a fishbowl at the 35,000,000 people who voted for 'that' guy (vs the 30,000,000 who didn't and the other 140,000,000 who couldn't vote or don't care) who think they have the moral monopoly on everything. You don't, and you're grossly outnumbered by those who think otherwise.

As opposed to arrogant, Canadian-bashing Americans ;)

Count yourself as number 1 and look back through the archive. There's quite a few.

50+?

Canadians already participated in the great butchery of WW 1...

;-)

And your point? There were many involved in "The Great War".

make it 50 then:

From Wikipedia:

Returning its attention to the conflict between Israel and its Arab neighbors, the United Nations responded to Suez Crisis of 1956, a war between the alliance of the United Kingdom, France, and Israel, and Egypt, which was supported by other Arab nations. When a ceasefire was declared in 1957, Canadian diplomat (and future Prime Minister) Lester Bowles Pearson suggested that the United Nations station a peacekeeping force in the Suez in order to ensure that the ceasefire was honored by both sides. Pearson had initially suggested that the force consist of mainly Canadian soldiers, but the Egyptians were suspicious of having a Commonwealth nation defend them against Great Britain and her allies. In the end, a wide variety of national forces were drawn upon to ensure national diversity. Pearson would win the Nobel Peace Prize for this work, and he is today considered a father of modern peacekeeping.

Just a correction here . . . it is not Americans that many Canadians dislike and distrust - it is President Bush. Canada does not support the war or GWB but that is a totally different state of affairs than not supporting and liking the American people. We have learned to differentiate - we know that Americans are individuals, and not all GWB clones - in spite of CNN and FOX news casts. Interestingly enough - virtually all Americans I know personally share my sentiments - they have no use for President Bush or the war either, and that includes my American 22-year Armed Forces veteran husband.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Then you obviously don't know the hundreds of people I met when I lived in Ontario. :)

Look, let's just all agree to disagree. There are millions of American Canadian-bashers and millions upon millions of Canadian American-bashers. Great, we all hate each other. Wonderful.

WW1, in 1914-1918. My point being you could have write 90+...

But ok, I see, you were talking about "peacekeeping". I meant to say that Canadians have been fighting wars for more than 50 years.

LOL I liked Clinton when he was in office. I was a democrat at the time. Thank goodness I smartened up. ;)

Nice try though, big daddy!

Whatever you do, don't ever let someone silence your opinion...that's not what this country is about and if she doesn't understand that, perhaps she should live somewhere else more authoritarian.

Neo-conservative chopf##ks!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black..:crying::lol:

You seriously crack me up..

too funny. I bet you republicans may have bashed clinton but they never would have tried to ###### the country over just to get him out of office. This is the difference between neo democrats and 'neo' republicans. Most democrats look after their own ### and don't give a ###### about America. Well apart from the right of being able to say and do as they please.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
