You need to wait outside till the interview is done; if she is allowed same-day oath, you can sit in the visitor's side of the Court.

Or do I have to stay outside and wait?

What other questions besides the quiz, reading, writing, do they ask that she should be aware of?

If history repeats itself, have her know precisely why all the questions on the N-400 were answered the way they were and with the appropriate evidence to verify some of those questions. I feel the sponsoring US citizen spouse should be able to attend that portion of the evidence questions, since his/her name is on all that evidence. But the USCIS has different thoughts or lack of thought on this subject.

The one advantage of going with your wife to the interview is that the I.O. who will greet her at the reception and ask her in will see that she's accompanied by her husband. That pretty much covers the "are they still happily married question" by itself. Other than that your wife might appreciate you being there with her or not. It is only in the most unusual cases that a spouse will be allowed to "sit in" at the interview.

There is no same day Oath in Arizona.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

There is no sponsor for citizenship. As Bob said, having the US spouse sitting there in the waiting room may be beneficial for a spouse who is applying for citizenship based on marriage to a USC. I just wished there were better things on the waiting room tv as I sat there.

Thanks for all the help! Good advice too. The thing is that I've pretty much done all the immigration stuff for her, and just had her sign things. So, we'll have to go over the application so she is very familiar with it. She's completely fluent in English so i'm not concerned about any misunderstandings. it's just an important thing and never know what they'll want or say.

bummer about the no same-day-oath thing... that'd be nice. but how i figure, it'd be in 2-4 weeks. the interview is on Monday.

again, thanks for that input!

Sponsorship in the light of that marriage to a US citizen for that three year privilege, but completely independent of that marriage if waiting just two more years.

Did they ask about the citizen spouse being together waiting outside for interview>?

My IO did during my interview since my N-400 is based on 3-year marriage. It doesn't hurt to have the spouse with you even though they can't go in at the interview room. It's called moral support. Heck, even our friends and some relatives wanted to be there for me, if they will only allow more than 1 person in the waiting area.

Did they ask about the citizen spouse being together waiting outside for interview>?

In my eight visits to the field office with my girls, they did let me in the door, but had to pinch myself to make sure I was there. Was a bit nicer when my wife was forced to renew her citizenship in Colombia, wouldn't even let me in, had to stand outside.

Trying to think of nice things to say about the USCIS, they do have clean rest rooms, nice to find after sipping on coffee for five hours in the drive over. Also a water fountain with clean drinkable water. Can't say that about Colombia, walked around for over seven blocks trying to find a public rest room, when I saw it, change my mind about going. And don't drink the water.

Wife and stepdaughter just returned from Colombia, really glad to be back home for those little things we take for granted here.

It didn't even matter cause I had to stay in the car with the kids, but they probably wouldn't have let me in the interview. I'm sure we could have gone in the lobby but I'm not going to take 3 small kids in there. Turned out to be a non-issue, interview went fine.
