So the visa specialist said we were in administrative processing, and the retards at the consulate said we arent but that if the specialist said we were than we are. They said that if we arent in processing our wait time for the visa in hand is 8 weeks, and if we are then its 12 weeks. WTH! i have never heard of anyone having to wait that long even with administrative processing. Also at the consulate they said we were approved, they never said they were sending us to administrative processing. What is going on, i feel like we are constantly being screwed by this retarded system. I cant believe how long we have had to wait for everything and now this. Its like it wont ever end. Why do these retards keep giving us conflicting information and why cant any of them tell us why? We have the right to know whats going on with our case, this is soooo stupid. I have never been so mad.

What do you mean by "visa specialist"? You went to the interview, they approved you and then told you you were under AP? Who told you that?

I'm guessing that you mean the person you called (maybe at the NVC) to find out why you haven't been called to pick up the visa yet. Did they give you a difficult time during your interview? Were there any previous marriages or anything that may not have been completely checked out yet?

My experienc in general with NVC (if that is who you called) is that they only have general answers and don't seem to know anything about the particulars of a single country. For example, they kept telling me that my fiance should be receiving packet 3 and after he sends back the forms, they'll set a date (not true in the DR). So maybe they're doing the same when they tell you it normally takes 8 weeks to have visa in hand.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Can you calm down and explain? What visa specialist ae you referring to? Lawyer?

By the way, it's really not helpful to tell someone to calm down. It's rather insulting and likely to make them angrier as it minimizes the way someone is very legitimately feeling. If you want to ask for more explanation fine. Visa Specialists work out of the "National Visa Center". I don't know if they are also available thru the consulates.

AP is possible at this point. When i was in AP at nvc i did my research on it. Our files go through security check at uscis nvc and consulate. Look up the dr embassy site and on the search site look up AP. Wish you the best. This is all apart ofthis crazy process. Butitcan also be a mistake. Call monday

san diego, the visa specialist is the US Department of State. :bonk:

There is no reason for us to be in administrative review, as the interview went very smoothely, we didnt go to window 11 or anything. Neither of us have had previous marriages, and there are no children. We had all of our paperwork and everything and to our knowlegde there is no reason why we should be in AP. After the interview they told us we were approved and to go up to Domex to pay. They never told us we were in AP nor did they give us any additional paperwork which im told they are supposed to give us if we are going to AP. It HAS only been a few days so there is a chance we just havnt gotten our visa yet, but so far the embassy, visa specialist, and domex are all telling us that we have a long wait ahead of us, and as we have already waited 9 months this is a slap in the face, especially when they tell us we are approved.

AP isn;t necessarily about you/ your relationship, it could be security checks, for example if the beneficiary has a name similar to someone on a watch list. I know it is hard, but if you indeed are in AP, it could take anything from a week to a month to a year.

there is just no reason for us to be on administrative review though. And why did it take them 6 months to get our petition approved if they were just going to do this? Im hoping that the person at the visa specialist didnt know what she was talking about cus she seemed angry and anxious to leave in fact she hung up on me, but i did call close to their closing time. I think and am hoping that what she was trying to say was that the visa was still being processed as in printed, cus when we called the consulate after that they said that they didnt see we were in administrative review and asked where we heard it from.

DoS Human said that? Post Visa Interview? OK !

When you call back again, next week perhaps -

ask for the last 3 prior status thingies, with the date and time stamp of each.

Keep a log of these, as you'll be calling 2 or 3 times a week, to check on casefile status.

After a few weeks of making the call, getting those 3 prior status thingies -

I'm hoping you can see some pattern of what's going on, as there may be some shifting of status, also of date/time stamps.

AP sucks, usually.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

what are the 3 prior status thingies? Does the visa specialist have them? And do you really thinkt hat the visa specialist would know better about whats going on than the consulate that actually has the passport?

DoS Hotline Human sees a computer system that the Embassy IV unit is tied in to.

Sometimes a day off for 'real time status', but they can see most of the stuff that the Embassy can see, sans any VO casefile notes (which you'll never see, those are for adjudicating officers eyes only)

as to 'know better', alas - no - but 'know the same' ? yes. 'know a little bit less' ? absolutely.

i know that feeling a what your going thru.after 7 months waiting our k1 was approved and sent to nvc where we were immediatly placed in ap for a grueling 6 weeks.hang in there and 1 day outta the blue itll be there.nvc automatically selects petitions and they go into several more back ground check.these shouldnt take very long as other agencies have allready done the same checks so they are on file and readily avaliable to nvc.ive seen people fly thru ap and some that drag on and on and on.hope good news comes quick for you and her
