Received NOA2 letter dated May 3 (never got e-mail) AND a letter from NVC dated May 5 in the mail on May 9. The NVC letter had an ACC2011 case number. I called the NVC on May 23 to find out if our file had been sent to Accra. I was told the case was in AP and there was no way to know when it would be sent. I called again this evening (June 3) and was told our case file was sent to Accra on May 4. So the story from NVC was not consistent.. I am just relieved our case is moving. :D

Got NOA2 from USCIS on March 27, and a letter from NVC dated April 14 in the mail box on May 7 (there's no email). So I wasted almost a month just to wait the letter from NVC. I didn't make a call at all before, my bad!

Yeah, these numbers are different from the one in NOA2 (WAC...)... From NVC I got my case number (starting with CDJ since my interview will be in CD Juarez), I also got my Invoice number and beneficiary number.

Thanks for the reply. Can you get the numbers by calling the NVC or do you just have to wait for the letter?

Be patient, things do move quickly at this stage. NVC received our document exactly 2wks after NOA2, and it left the NVC for the consulate 2 days later. I notice a pattern of 2 weeks for a lot of VJ members, so just wait 2 wks and see what happens. You can call the NVC every other day to check (you never can tell, yours might be different), they are usually patient with questions and phone calls; at least from my experience. All the very best.

We got our NOA2 approval on May 31 (never got an email though) and so I waited the usual 3 days before contacting NVC to see if they have gotten it. And both times I have called they have said "Please give us 14 days before it gets into our system."

Most people's timelines show that they get their new case number 3 days after... And it's usually out the door a couple days after that...

Am I missing something? Or have the wait times at NVC now increased?

Thanks!

Hello, Of course they are going to say "Allow 14 days". They do not want an overload in calls. I would say a week to 9 days is usually the norm for NVC to assign the new number. This is from what I have seen and heard over the past 7 months. The good thing is that once NVC as the case and issues a number it is usually out of the door in no time. Our case was sent electronically to the Consulate. Smile, you are very very close to completion :)

Receipt # is what you get from the NOA.

The case number is what the NVC assigns it after it has received the NOA2.

Quick question: When they ask for your case number, you give them the one you got from the NOA1 right?

Thanks for everyone's input!

Your case number starts with the 1st 3 letters of your city. Usually like with mine it was SYD -------

ah sorry that's not exactly true...it usually takes 3-6 working days for the Service Center to send it to the NVC and 2-3 working days for the NVC to send it to the embassy. While at the NVC it takes 1-2 days to get the BGT2011 case number. Just look at my time line below

And I don't really care that you say it's not true going on the average it can take up to 2 weeks or more regardless of what your time line says. Sorry to be abrupt but not everyones goes and gets there as quickly. As some have said it can take a month and then some may have AP so no 2 cases are the same.

Confused.. So when I call NVC what do I say to them or give them to find out if my case is there yet? Thanks and sorry for being thick at the moment..

You give them the receipt number that is listed on your NOA2. Then they will give you the case number they assigned to it.
