Hello,

Something just hit me as I was reading again the checklist of the packet 3. It is said that I have to provide police certificates from every place I have lived in since the age of 16 for more than 6 months.

I resided in the US for 10 months during my studies. Does that mean that I have to provide a US police certificate too?

thanks

I am answering your question based on our experiences.

I know my husband had to get clearance from Austria and Canada. He lived in Austria up to age 18 and then in Canada until this year. He visited the US several times on a Visa Waiver, but only stayed 3 months at a time before returning to Canada.

So he didn't get a US police Clearance.

Good Luck,

Moondancer

My answers are based on personal experience, not fact.

We are on this rollercoaster ride together holding on for dear life.

I googled for days trying to find out how I can get a state wide police clearance for my husband because he was in california for 8 months. I got the form in the mail from the DOJ and it stated they would provide that for immigration purposes (since the LAPD will not). But then I read the darn thing and it requires his fingerprints and you have to make the appt in the states to do it.

Kinda difficult since he can't come to the states, isn't it?

Less than a year you dont need one

Source:Police certificates are required for each visa application aged 16 years or older. A separate certificate is required from the police of each country in which the applicant has lived for twelve months or more after the age of 16; the period is six months if country of birth or current residence. This certificate must cover the entire period of the applicant's residence in that area or country and state what the appropriate police authorities records show concerning each applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s), and the disposition of each case of which there is a record.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

Hi,

I am looking at the requirements for the interview at the Consulate and it says that they need a police certificate. I live in Canada so does it mean that I need a Municipal police certificate (Ontario Provincial Police) or a Canada-wide (Royal Canadian Mounted Police)?
