Filed AOS APR 21 via overnight, USPS confirmed del Apr 22.

Haven't heard a peep since. I know some people have had to wait about 30 days before NOA1 is received. This is our dilemma

1) the cell # for the text has changed and I have no idea how to update it

2) We are leaving Las Vegas May 23 and moving to Boston and where hoping this would be done by then

She starts school in Boston in July and we are moving in in June. I know I need to file for a change of address, but I can't since I don't have a receipt number, correct?

First of all, its only May 12 today so all hope is not lost, there is still a chance that you get the notifications this week.

Next, I personally think its crucial that you ask your neighbor or the new tenant to forward the mail for you because the NOA1 and biometrics letter usually come a week or two apart.

My suggestion would be to make an infopass appointment when you have transferred because more than likely your biometrics appt will be for Las Vegas and since you will be in Boston you will need to do the biometrics there..

I hope you get it sorted out. :) Goodluck!!! :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

What happens to government mail if it isn't forwarded?

It's returned to sender and yes I'm sure. First because it says it on most government mail envelopes "DO NOT FORWARD" or "RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED".

Secondly because of these Q&A's here:

I tried to find a USPS or USCIS link but couldn't find one. General consensus is you MIGHT get lucky and they might accidentally forward it but they're not supposed to. They recommend putting a "hold" on your mail until the AR-11 and i-865 go through. Double check with USPS to confirm whether they will hold government mail.

You can have your mail held and have someone pick it up for you at the post office even though they will not foward it, they will hold it.

Call USCIS 1 800 375 5283. They have an option for address change on the phone. Or just do it online https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.Terms . These are the fastest ways. If you don't have a case number the A number should work. Otherwise talk to the CS rep.
