Hello colleagues,

After so long of a waiting and gone thru so much of papers and reviewing so many post my fiancee got approved the visa. My question is how does it work at the airport? Is it like consulate style interview or just simply handing over the package to them and they just get the finger prints and let her in?

I can't find any review at the washington dulles airport and just wondering anything you guys knows about this airport?

We just want to be done with this process and get on with our lives as i know how much of paper works we have submitted and , checks, and rest of the stuff.

Thanks much for your help!

Here is the link to the reviews on Washington DC - Dulles airport

You can find POE reviews by clicking the POE link in the banner menu above and the searching for the particular POE

I came through Dulles.

You go through the regular POE lines with the other plane passengers but you can use the USC line this time as you have a LP visa.

The CO there will take your package and do a brief look at your documents and passport - s/he will then direct you to pick up your luggage and take it to the secondary immigration check point.

Here there are more COs and you will hand over your package and passport again and they will ask you to wait, if there are other people there it can take a while. When it's your turn they take your fingerprint and you sign a form and then you go through the customs point and you are through.

The only downside for me was I arrived to a busy room in secondary and waited nearly 2 hours before they processed me but the processing took about 5 minutes.

It's unlikely that you can go through the lines for USC since K1 visa holders have not been granted for permanent residency yet. You should just stick to the visitor's lines and present your K1 package to the agent when you get to the booth and then just follow their instructions. They will ask you to go to a room in order to process your entry. It took my wife (was then fiancee) almost 2 hours to get everything done (the biometric machines were down on that day, hope you will have better luck during the process).

If you are the beneficiary, and you are accompanying your US Citizen fiance(e), you can go through the US Citizen line. Let your US Citizen fiance(e) go ahead of you so he/she can alert the CO that you are entering on a K1. A K1 visa only allows you to travel to the USA to present yourself for inspection to a border officer at the POE. It is the border officer who allows you entry into the US, and he/she can deny entry to you even though you have an approved K1 from the embassy. It does not happen often; but the CO at the POE is authorized to deny you entry for any number of reasons. In other words, it is not a simple formality or "rubber stamp". Just be polite and patient, and you should not have any problems.

Some CBP tell them they can go through citizen line when alone, most of the time though they go through visitor.

If the USC is there with the K-1 holder, then the K-1 holder can go through the citizen line without any problem.
