Doggie stroller???

I went out at lunch shopping for new walking shoes, and I was waiting at a stoplight and saw this woman on the other side with a stroller. I didn't think anything of her until I crossed directly beside her and noticed inside this stroller was a DOG....one of these little curly haired, yappy looking types....sitting all comfy on it's blankie. I just wondered, when did it become necessary to provide transportation for the pooch, that doesn't relate to some sort of vet visit or travel of another kind. This lady, by all looks of it was either out for just a stroll, or going shopping. If she was out for a stroll, can't the pooch stroll as well. And if she was out shopping, why on earth does the dog need to go? I don't understand the new culture of carrying the pooches in purses or special doggie carriers all around the town, and for crissake, in a stroller???? Am I missing something here? Or have these people (primarily women it seems) gone all batty, following the likes of Paris Hilton.

Pets are already going down the same obese path as their human companions, and maybe it just frosts me that these people who claim to cherish their beloved FeeFees aren't doing them any favors, and in fact I wonder how much is just an image thang anyway, which is even MORE annoying! GRRRRRRRRRR

And it isn't even just the obese part. I love my pets as much as anyone, but I doubt Alix and McCloud (my cats if you can't see my siggie) would want to be plopped in the stroller to go out shopping with me... what is the best thing for the animal??? And what is just silliness?

Sounds like the lady I saw getting on a plane in Atlanta when we were there waiting for our connecting flight. She had the stroller and the bag she carried the dog in when it wasn't in the stroller. She got special get on the plane first priveledges since she had the stroller and all. For a dog! I love my little Daisy but she's much happier running around on her own and not cramped up in some stroller. She'd go ballistic if I forced her to stroll around in one of those things.
