Hello. I submitted my I-129F package to VSC and it was recieved on Aug.11 When my check was presented to my bank I had insufficient funds and it was returned. My question is now what do I do? It has been over 3 weeks and I have not recieved my check and paperwork back. Can anyone give me some guidance. Thank You.

Start over. This time don't write a check that can't be cashed. In your case, perhaps a money order is more appropriate next time.

I agree, I figure if the government doesn't get their money, they won't spend a second on you. Not even to notify you that your checked hasn't been cashed. But that's just a guess.

Yep. We had a problem with a money order that didn't get cashed and if we had't called them to ask what was going on, we wouldn't know that we had to file again.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

You really should have a checking account that allows for overdrafts and transfers money directly from your bank credit card. I thought overdrafts were a thing of the past. Guess some parts of the country are still living in the 1970's.

I don't think you get away with bouncing checks that easily. You going to have to pay them a fine for bouncing that check before you can start over again.

Often times (in the business world) an NSF check is deposited twice, just to see if by any chance the funds are there a week or so later.

Keep an eye on your bank account and see if the check clears within the next few weeks. If not, definitely start making attempts to contact VSC to find what you need to do to correct the situation.

But after 3 weeks of the first attempt? Seems unlikely, but possible.

i have had same experience as you. we called many times to the financial department, the lady is kind but always say there is no our paper in her computer. after 1 month, we got touched, then called again, the lady said we are in the computer now, they had sent a RFE for money before 1 month, but we didn't get it. then that RFE expired. so my bf told her bank account through call. then money cashed. but we got email and touch in July told that they got our payment. so from May to July means nothing to us. I have to start again to wait in July. so i think it is ok, just it will take your long time. good luck!

You know you do have to make a certain amount of money to be able to bring your financee to the USA. Many a fiancee have been stuck in their home country broken hearted because once they got to the interview they find out that their fiance doesnt make enough money and are denied their visa. Just saying this, since your check bounced i am guessing you are not making that much money.

And here comes peil, to ruin the day.

Dude, maybe they make plenty of money and made a mistake.

Conjecture without evidence, is the biggest shortcoming of the VJ site.

You know I always try to give the benefit of the doubt to people. Everyone seems to be assuming the OP does not have a good hold on his finances. I work in a bank and I know bouncing checks is not good, but you would be surprised the number of people who just make simple mistakes in their checkbooks and because of that a check bounces. I also would imagine there are quite a few posters here on VJ who have had this type of situation. And believe me I have seen people who earn MAJOR money bounce checks.

And yes there are overdraft protection programs at banks, but unfortunately some of these are not always marketed and people are not always aware of them until after the fact and they speak to a bank employee.
