No, there is no AP at this stage, it's "extra background checks."

Extra backgroud checks which will take an ADDITIONAL 180 days?

I don't know what to say. My husband and I sent ALL the required documents + an extra 300 pages of proof....we front loaded with all the proof they could ever want. My husband has lived in Lahore all his life, never moved and has never left the country, has a professional job which he has been at for years.....

I hate to say it and I'm so sorry for your delay but it's probably all because of the fact that your partner is from Pakistan. Due to our relationship with the country they probably do extra background checks for "national security". Which, of course, sucks. I really hope they get you approved soon!

:) yes as we thought that the issues going on with USA and Pakistan might be a reason I just didn't want to think in that direction. Guess I have to now.

Thank you, we need all the prayers we can get right now..... Does anyone know how long background checks can take? And if they do these checks now is it more likely we wont get AP at the embassy? Gosh.......

My case is now completed as per NVC operator. Even though I still do not get SIF online and the AVR anyway is not updated as usual. Should I call NVC again or this is usual ?

If the operator says complete, its complete .. dont bother about SIF or AVR ... Have they given you an interview date yet?

Call NVC, speak to a human and ask if they have received/reviewed anything.. If not so, call back in a few days ... They always say '20bussinessdays" .. usually its a lot less than that ...dont worry! its getting there!

Next step is case complete,, and unlike me I hope you get an interviewdate rightaway!

Ok thanks. Just a little stressed because they told me it would have been case closed on Sept. 14th if I just would have remembered to put in my bank statements and now every time I call they don't even know if they received my package. I'm sick of hearing, "Please allow 20 business days"!

No interview date yet. The operator told me that they only schedule interview dates together and it happens usually second week of every month. So she told me to check back in October 2nd week but I will call around Oct 1 anyway again :))

I also got a fake RFE for AOS this Monday. AVR said my AOS was received this Wednesday. Upon talking to an operator today, he informed me, "..good news is that you're very close to case closed!"

I'm hoping for a case closed message on AVR in the morning. If not, then by Monday or Tuesday.

September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
