Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 7, 2011
Embassy Review : I was lucky, I have a friend whom I meet from Visa Journey, we have the same interview date Nov. 3, 2011, but hers is 6:30 am mine is 8:30 am. We arrived at the embassy around 5:30am, the line was already long, so we line up at the Immigrant line, the guard will announce what not to bring with you while inside the embassy. No cellphones are allowed, colognes, alcohol, gums, but candy is allowed. I was starting to get nervous because there\'s other applicants that the guard did not let them in because there schedule was 8:30am and it was still 6:00am that time.  So I started praying, hoping they will let me in even though my interview time is not until 8:30am.  When I get in, the girl who will check your documents before you can enter the building she just ask my passport and put it into a small ziplock bag, and she take a look at my appointment letter and she said okay ma\'am you can go inside. I was so relieved and then we line up to another window where we wait for our queue number to given.  After what seemed a long time,  I received my queue number, 6043. After that that\'s the time you can go inside the embassy.  I was looking around to see my friend but shes still outside, my line was faster than her line. Before you can get inside the embassy you have to pass by for another check, its like you were in the airport, and they have this scan thing and they will check your bag. After that you can go to building, It was huge with a very heavy metal door, I was looking for window 39 to drop my Appointment letter, after that I took a seat then waited for my number on the queue board.  After a few minutes my number was flashed at window 39 again for inkless fingerprinting, it was an American Woman, she ask me my Name and date of birth, after that took a seat again and finally I saw my friend. We chatted for a few minutes, then my number flashed again at the queue board at window 40, It was the pre-screener this time, and at first I was thinking what to call him or her. He looks like a girl but his a guy with a long hair, actually I think his a gay, but He is nice. I greeted him good morning Sir, then he greeted me back, He get my passport with the ziplock, then He ask me my name, date of birth, who is my petitioner, When and where did I meet him, If I\'m married before, If my husband was married before, If he have kids, then He ask me if I have wedding pics, so I show it to him then after that He let me sign part two of the DS-230. He said, \"Okay ma\'am, I think I don\'t have questions anymore\", to which I replied,  \"Thank you so much\" and he gave me back my police clearance and the photocopies of my other documents from NVC. He told me just sit down and wait for my number to be called again.

I took a seat again and waited for my last interview with the consul.  While waiting I chatted again with my friend so I was not bored while waiting for my number. Finally my queue number flashed again at window 66, He was an american good looking guy lol, So I greeted him Good morning Sir, He greeted me back and after that ask me to raise my right hand and swore me in, That time I\'m not nervous anymore, He ask me a couple of questions like Who is my petitioner, How long did my husband stay the last time he visited me, Is he still working right now, and finally the last thing he ask is the wedding pics, (No documents asked from me) and after that He said Okay your Visa has been approved! I think he was not done talking at that time and I started to Thank him heheh, I can\'t believe I just heard the magic words. He said just wait for the window 73 for the instruction of where to deliver the visa, so my number flashed again at the window 73, the guy give me back my appointment letter with the stamp that says \"BIO F/P is DONE Nov. 3,2011\", and he said okay ma\'am your Visa is approved in tagalog words, and said go to window 69 and give your 2go slip. It was really fast, I really did not expect it to be easy like that.

I braced myself for affidavit of support questions because we had a co-sponsor but Thank God no questions ask about the income of my husband (because I\'m really confuse about there Tax, I don\'t have any idea how it works). I was done at 930 am, but we\'re out at the embassy at exactly 12 noon because I waited for my friend to be done with her interview. It was a good experience all in all. I really have a good time. Thank You VJ'ers for all your help!!! God Bless us.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
