My Interview Experience in Raleigh NC

I had my N400 interview today in Raleigh NC and here is my experience, in case it helps you. My interview time was 1:30. We arrived at 1:15 or 1:20 and by the time we got through security & reception/info desk, it was almost 1:30. BTW, don't take any lighters or other liquid in your purse, because my wife had a hard time. We had to throw away 5 lighters!! Don't ask me why she had 5 lighters in her purse, I have no idea!

I had to wait until around 2 pm before I was called to the back for my interview. My interviewer was male & before I sat down he asked me to raise my hand to take an oath to tell the truth. He then started reviewing my application with me & he asked me if I want to change my name (since I have a very long arab name) but I declined. He then started asking me things like have I ever been arrested, blah blah blah and then he handed me a paper with the sentence "The President lives in the White House." and he asked me to write it down. Then he asked if I was ready for the English & history test. I said yes & then he asked me these questions:

1. What is the promise you make when you become a US citizen?

2. Who is your state governor?

3. Who was the first President?

4. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

5. Name 2 US holidays?

6. What is the movement that tried to end racial discrimination called?

I answered them all & he smiled at me & said congratulations, you passed! Can you wait outside while I work on your ceremony oath. 15 minutes later a woman came out & called me & gave me the ceremony letter & the test result. My ceremony will be April 22.

I had the EXACT same questions as you, even the "President Lives in the White House". Only difference is that my test was in California.

Counted six armed guards at the St. Paul office, let me just say, is that even necessary? But not as bad as Venezuela with armed guards at practically every store you go to, maybe we will have that next year.

See my SS office in Wisconsin Rapids has an armed guard now, but no searching. He just told me to grab a ticket and take a seat, while there was a big sign there, take a ticket and have a seat. But no search.

Now as opposed to the some odd 11-20 million illegals in this country, we volunteered to come here legally, need a letter or a green card to get in, and hope and pray to get our citizenship. Do any of us intend to do damage to a field office? Just doesn't make sense. Certainly nothing in there worth stealing, unless you have a fetish for an old folding chair.

Well, about the lighters my husband has a lot too. Every time he goes buy some cigarettes they give him a new lighter. And he never listens to me when I say "quit smoking!" :(
