He calls it a dark cake with the soaked fruits and made with burnt sugar. Kinda like a fruit cake.

Your fiance needs to come better than this. Ain't nothing in Ja named Black cake. He's talking about Fruit cake made with currents and rum then doused in Red Label Wine. That's some good stuff right there.

Try Golden Crust to see if any location accessible to you carries it. Considering that this is a large chain of bakeries I wouldn't put my hopes up for something remotely wonderful in their Fruit cake.

Why can't he get someone in Ja to make it and he brings it when he arrive. If you have friends in NY they can locate it aswell.

It's for our wedding. I found it, my cousin lives in Miami and a local Bakery makes them. It is called several things according to everyone I talk to. Dark Cake, Black Cake, Rum cake, Fruit Cake, etc.... It wasn't until I started talking about the ingredients, just like on here, they were like O Yeah, we call it .... Dah-Dah-Duh.

So the concenus is we are talking about Fruit cake?

If so, is it the Jamaican Fruit cake you want or the US version?

Is it you that want a fruit cake for the reception or your husband? Because if it's the latter, maybe for real have him bring the cake from Ja (if only 1 so no hassle) that way he gets the one he wants and you can find a bakery/cake maker to decorate it when he gets by you.

If you choose to have it made in the US, because this is your 'propa' wedding cake, I would suggest you call a couple bakeries/cake makers, find out who makes Fruit cake and take a day to sample their stock cause this ain't no chocolate, plain, lemon or red velvet cake you're ordering where all the recipes are the same, very easy to make & all come out the same. Some of the 'fruit cakes' out there are a No No. If you don't know how judge a good fruit cake have someone you trust do the sampling or wait until your fiance gets there.
