So my husband had his interview today and he did not get the visa. I sent a TON of documents down to him, which were all in folders with tags on the outside explaining what everything was in side. We had a special for for taxes, for myself and my dad from 2008-2010. Well the CO told him that he doesn't have the tax information. Kwame said it was in there and can he show her where it is at and she replied she doesn't have time to look again. She also said that he doesn't have proof that I came after the baby was born. I sent him copies of my visa, or daughters visa and passport showing we were there for a month and again she said she doesn't have time to look. She told him to return in June with the correct documents. Really? June? I am planning on emailing the embassy asking for an earlier time because we have everything and he has copies with him in Ghana. I am astonished this happen, very upset, very dumbfounded.

Best wishes to you & your Family on moving forward and asking for another date via email to the Embassy. May God double your increase & favour.

Not sure how the embassy there works but I know in colombia you are asked to put papers in a specific order as the first order of business. Was he asked to do this and maybe mixed up the order? When asked for the tax information was it the actual forms or the W-2s that were being asked for? It doesn't justify poor treatment but some of the COs are like grumpy school teachers...no remorse. Good luck at the next appointment.

I sent with him documents in folders with titles on them. He told me when he went in he had to give a ghanaian his documents and the ghanaian told him that they don't take folders and just to put everything together; I know that is not the case because I have friends who have done this. And they were copies of what each of filed for your taxes. So when the information was given to the CO I don't know. I just was frustrated on how they treated him and the fact that she said she doesn't have time to look back at the documents, is that not the point? Didn't I just pay thousands of dollars for you to sit and look at my documents? Its frustrating and I know I am venting a little, or well a lot. Just a long journey and then to have this happen, puts a wrinkle in my plans. Trying to stay positive.

Venting is good and healthy. It won't be long until you are together.

I am so sorry to hear the results of your interview. I was given a second appointment but was successful in changing the date to an earlier one when I email the embassy in Ghana (they claimed my husband asked for that specific date, which he did not). You need to be very detailed and explain that he had the information with him and the interviewer did not see it or was willing to go back and look through the paperwork as it was massive. In addition I would like to know if the tax papers presented were the actual tax transcripts they request from the IRS or did you submit something else since you said special taxes?

I think you have good case and should be able to complain to a senior person at embassy as well as calling in your state representative as well and making sure you file a proper complains.

If the CO responded that (s)he does not have time to go thru documents, when you have the documents then that is not an acceptable response.

Good luck, I hope you get a better person next time!

I didn't mean to say special taxes, they were copies of taxes that we (my dad and me) filed from 2008-2009-and my 2010, not my dads and she said they did not have any of them, which is impossible because my paperwork had to have been completed with my 2008 tax information. Does anyone think calling will make a difference?

Sorry to hear about this.

I would call the embassy and keep calling them until you can get to talk to a consular officer about the situation. It can be tough to get through to someone but just keep trying until someone will listen to you. It can't hurt your case.
