Okay, so, my Fiance and I were talking and we were thinking that it would be nice for him to come for a visit so that he could meet my parents and the rest of my family.

He's from Morocco, and I'm in the US. We haven't started the K1 fiance visa yet, and we won't for awhile until we get other things out of the way first. Basically, we were wondering if anyone knew if it would harm our chances when we do file for K1 visa if he came out here on a tourist visa for a few weeks beforehand? Thanks...

Nope that would not effect his K1 visa - I am assuming you are talking about him going back to his home country after his visit on tourist visa.

Yes, he would be going back to Morocco after a visit here... we would start the K1 after the visit. Thanks!

You should post this on the Middle East North Africa regional forum. I think the advice from other members familiar with the Casablanca consulate might differ from what you've gotten here. There have definitely been other members whose Moroccan SO's have been denied and who were criticized in the interview for attempting to come on a tourist visa first.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but unless he's a 40+ year old man with a darn good job, a house, a car, and a big bank account, I wouldn't even bother with him applying for a visitor visa. There's no way he'll get one from Casablanca. Even if he had all of the above, but was under 40, he still wouldn't get one. I haven't heard of a single case of an unmarried man under 40 getting a visitor visa to the US from Casablanca- either from VJ, or personal friends. If he applies and is denied, it may effect the outcome of a future K1 petition.

I really think you need to read up on the specifics of immigrating from Morocco, from others who have been through it here on VJ. It is not an easy road by a longshot. Educating yourself about it now could save you a possible future denial. Good luck.

A denied tourist visa would have no bearing one way or the other on a future K1 petition.

:ot2:

As recent posts have suggested, he can apply but the chances he would be issued a tourist visa are not high, especially if he were to answer the question, "why do you want to visit the USA?" and he answered "to visit my fiancee and meet her family."

I think the advice from other members familiar with the Casablanca consulate might differ from what you've gotten here.

Just a side note, if he wanted to, he could go to the Embassy in Rabat and apply for a tourist visa instead of the Consulate in Casablanca. However, that would not increase the likelihood of him being issued a tourist visa.

I can tell you that a single man from Morocco will be denied a visitor's visa unless he has very strong ties. I have never heard of anybody getting approved and know of several who have tried and were denied and it was held against them in the interview. Morocco is a very tough consulate and if they were granting visitors visa's my husband would have been here to visit me a long time ago before we were married instead of us sitting in 2 different countries waiting forever!! SOrry but that is the reality of Morocco. Best of luck!!!

Denied tourist visa would have not impact on K1 nor would it be held against them. Seems you were married and then your husband was trying to get a tourist visa that is a different case.

OP is not married or engaged yet - in that case there is no impact.

Just out of curiousity, are the rules different or the same for each consulate?

If the rules are different or stricter in any way, would it not be the advise of those that have been through, dealt with, and cried over this particular consulate be the most accurate? Just curious cause maybe I am missing something that discredits the people who have been there and done that with Casa.

Directly to the OP :) Watch the videos on youtube for the Casablanca consulate, the chief consulate explains exactly in detail what someone needs to get a tourist visa. I am sorry , but it is really hard , even with strong ties. You practically have to be anchored with a tether. She burst my bubbles hardcore on those videos cause she is very blunt and to the point. However , this is the reality of Casa. :(

Some other advice, maybe you can go on vacation over there with a family member, my uncle ( practically my dad) came to meet Hicham, even if it is one person, it's a nice feeling having someone else see for themselves :)

God Bless and remember LOVE is patient :) even if we are not ;)
