It`s been exactly 5 months(Oct 7, 2010) since we received our NOA1 from the California SC( phone text message. snail mail a week later) I called USCIS today and the call left me a little befuddled. I was told that I was still within the 5 month processing time. So they will give me a reason tomorrow ? I was told the date they are currently working on K-1 cases from Sept 16,2011. However the VJ time line says NOV 7, 2010. Is this normal ?

Ignore the VJ estimate for processing.

It's totally off right now due to a bunch of January/February people getting approved.

If you want an idea of what time period cases are being approved, check out Igor's List instead.

unfortunately it has become the norm that the people at the customer svc line has no idea what they are talking about and gives out inaccurate information. If I were you I would call everyday until they put in a svc request for your case to see exactly what is going on....good luck!!!

VJ timeline is currently a mess. It's including approved jan/feb filers to overall processing. You'll get a better sense of it by looking at this to see the flow in approvals: http://tom.ae/igor_completeness.php However, it's NOT precise it still gives you an idea.

I don't know the answer to your other question, unfortunately.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

I called about our petition at the beginning of the month and the woman couldn't give me any answer over the phone. I think this is standard procedure. I was emailed the following day and told I would receive a decision within 45 days, which totally depressed me, but ended up getting our NOA2 less than two weeks later. If you don't get a standard letter that acknowledges that you are out of standard processing time, wait another day or two and call again. I don't know if the calls helped, but at least I felt like our case was getting checked on at least a little bit. Good luck.

We submitted our I-129F and got the NOA 1 in Dec, 2010 and we do not have a reply. I am curious why some people are getting their NOA2 from filing in Jan/Feb 2011???? WTH??? And they have beneficiaries in third world countries. Can anyone explain this to me? I was told they process them in the order they are received. We even tried an expedite and was denied so now we get to lose out on $30,000 because they decided not to grant it. I am very disheartened by this whole process.

You wrote: "And they have beneficiaries in third world countries" For the purpose of "K" family visa's I don't think it matters what country you are from, nor should it. I am happy for the January filers that got the super fast NOA # 2 wish it could have been me...

Did you talk to a Tier 1 Operator or a Tier 2 ISO?
