Hey guys,

So i have a question regarding moving...When i did my AOS i did my father as a co-sponsor since we lived together i had to prove same residence etc...well last moment i found a apartment i can afford, and im moving out on tuesday. Will this cause any problems? Hubbys interview is on the 3rd i put down my parents address as the place he will be residing, so what should he say if they ask him where he will live? I'm confused :/ worried and probably overthinking this so any advice will be appreciated

Thanks guys

For the co-sponsorship the same residence is not a requirement but is for the I-864A/household member. Well you are moving and you are the principal sponsor and the spouse so if you are to tell them of the residence i would use the new address. Of course he has 10 days to notify them of the move.

From my point and since the interview would be 2 days prior to your move and if he is not moving with you then provide the answer as is. It will not case not problems. Hope someone will provide a better answer for you.

Is there a reason you have to move out on Tuesday? Why not put it off a week? Then your husband can say he will be living at the address you put down and will then help move to the new apartment when he arrives. Once he is approved, you could always move before he arrives if you want to. When he gets there he can notify about the new address.

I agree that you should have him say that you will be living with your parents. This might mean putting off your moving until after your interview but at this late date I wouldn't change anything.

I would wait until after the interview, your SO already has tough enough time without trying to memorize your new address if the question is asked of her for the new address!

For the AOS we filled out a I-864A for joint sponsor since i am living with my father, i can delay the moving i wont even be living there til hubby comes, but i will have the key, thats what i meant......I signed the lease and everything. Who do i need to report my move to? USCIS or NVC?

SO hubby shouuld say that he will be living with my parents and we will be moving out on our own once hes here or just not mention anything about a move?

Yes, at this point I would definitely have your husband give the new address. You should also do a change of address with USCIS and maybe NVC (not sure what is required after being approved by the NVC). I moved just before I got NOA2 and changed my address online with USCIS and then sent (by email) my new address to the NVC.

Sound advice - update the move with USCIS and NVC, give hubby new address and forward any correspondence your receive from the NVC or USCIS relating to your move so hubby can take it to him when he has the interview.

Apologies if I state in a comment that my husband and I have been together for years & years. It's just that I can hardly remember a time when he and I were not together.

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! We are currently in Administrative Processing with no time-lines to guide us!

My husband is looking at cars in Trinidad for me as his wish has come true! Me a Trini-Wife!

BUT

I will call DoS weekly to check the progress and I will not give up hope.

July of 2011 is the cut off date for us, when I will either start construction on a home here in the US or return to Trinidad to be with my husband.

I. USCIS - Reporting a Move Within the US

A. ONLINE AR-11 Change of Address https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

Online Change of Address is a web-based tool that allows you to change your address online so that USCIS can contact you regarding your status. Customers who have filed an application or petition with USCIS but have not yet received a decision (a "pending" case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving. In addition to changing your address for a pending application the law requires that all non-U.S. citizens, except for holders of A or G visas, report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a USCIS Form AR-11, Change of Address.

Please follow the instructions below before filing an Online Change of Address to ensure that you follow the correct procedures.

1. U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, and you have a pending case, you can change your address online here on our website. Please note that the law does not require U.S. citizens to file a Form AR-11.

2. Non-U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

  • Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);
  • Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Please note that if you are a non-U.S. citizen and you have a pending case, you must complete both steps to make sure that you comply with the regulations and so we can reach you at your correct address.

Once you have submitted this change, make sure you Reprint Electronic AR-11 Form

If you have previously submitted an Electronic AR-11 form on this site, you can reprint another copy of your Electronic AR-11 form at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.cr.Print.Request

B. I-865 Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-865.pdf

If at any time in the past you completed Form I-864, Affidavit or Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force.

II. NVC - Reporting a Move Within the US

I Moved. How Do I Give You My New Address? http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3180.html#move

Please see the NVC’s contact information .

The NVC’s e-mail address is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. In order to ensure a prompt response:

  • Enter your NVC Case Number in the Subject Line of the e-mail.
  • Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.
  • If you are an attorney, include the name of the law office requesting the information.
  • If the petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name.
  • Ask about only one case per e-mail.
