The poorest 90 percent of Americans make an average of $31,244 a year, while the top 1 percent make over $1.1 million:

I may be poor, but I make a hell of a lot more than $31,244.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

In fact, it's more than what they should make! The only reason they make even that much is because of socialism.

It is an interesting observation. Would it be socialist if maybe the other 10%, or heck... the top 2% that was making megagillions of bucks a year would maybe forego some of that salary to allow their own employees to make some more cash?

Charity is never socialist. Taxation (coercion) is.

I find it fascinating that so many Democrats truly believe that all our

fiscal problems can be solved by taxing 1 percent of the population.

It's considered political suicide to even suggest a tax increase on

the bottom 99 percent of Americans.

It's more of a problem among most Americans who want all the services of government, but don't want to pay for them, and that's a problem across all political ideologies.

I was chatting this afternoon with a puerto rican lady who just started work at our company coffee shop. She told me she's also a nurse assistant so I asked her why she works here. She said she doesn't like sick people. So of course I asked her why she studied to be a nurse assistant. Her answer, "i was unemployed and the government paid for it. I took a massage program too". Also government paid? Yes, all part of the state of NJ's job training program. After all that, she decided to sign up with sodexo and serve coffee and bagels.

Looks like the next political campaigns are gearing up and it is time to start slamming the money folk again. Since us poorer folk are a majority I am sure everyone knows we can just tax 100% of their wealth and not a lot they can do about it but cough it up. So what they already pay most of the taxes. Once we have all their money then we can spend it on even more Social programs.good.gif

and for those of us who only want the constitutional services of government (i/e - defense, upholding the constitution, etc.) we get royally effed.

Yeah, really. I knew the state has job training programs but I always assumed people took advantage of those opportunities more wisely and not just to kill time and "because the government will pay". Of course, I realize this is just one chick but if she did it I am sure there are others.

Not that I advocate not having job training opportunities. I do, however, question the wisdom of training everyone and their mother as a nurse assistant.
