Oh dear! And here's me peering at your reply through my first pair of reading glasses...

 That was a particularly sharp one, Yodrak. Deserving of a smiley!

Uling: looks like your suspicions may be confirmed! Good thing we went via the "no touch" method. <g>

meauxna,

My mother told me it would make me go blind. (But she didn't tell me it would take so many years for the first symptoms to appear.)

Yodrak

Phone calls and emails asking about your status (before you are out of date range) will generate a file 'touch'. That's self inflicted touching, and my mother told me that was naughty.

So me.

That's hilarious and have oftened wondered the same thing myself!

We haven´t been touched many times and the only way we understood a touch was they had our file in their hand. Of course this gives you hope for something to happen maybe soon but to all newbies we only can recommend: Don´t put too much hope in touches, when status doesn´t change!" We know you wanna believe in something but don´t believe in touches.

Anyway, the only touches they really mean something to us are when by honey bunny and I can touch each other :) and the final touch from CSC with the change of status that will say: "Approved"

I've posted this before.....

I was temping in a large govt department. There was a young guy from document control who would walk around scanning files and desks all day long so that the database always new the location of the physical file. I believe another VJ member recently had their entire file returned and on the file was a barcode sticker - which for me further confirms they are just checking location. Possibly they do this when the file is moved from one shelf to another, or from shelf to in-tray. If you're luck and your file is on top of the tray you might get an approval soon after. If you're unlucky your file may go to bottom of tray just as your adjudicator takes a month's vacation in Belize!!!

Or maybe they set a little program in their database to create random touches so we all sit here and speculate and they can watch us with great amusement!!!

hahaha

Phone calls and emails asking about your status (before you are out of date range) will generate a file 'touch'. That's self inflicted touching, and my mother told me that was naughty.

I understand and know that because I've been lurking for quite some time. I just feel it's wrong to scold the infernal "Touch Checkers" because that is the only thing to reference for our petition. I suppose informing them that it's useless other than personal contentment is OK though. But remember in a couple days there will be some other newbie that proclaims the impossible again. Because by then this thread will be buried.

Peace!!

Let me try to say this another way.

Misinformation is not going to help anyone. And the touch checkers are doing just that. Would you rather hear the truth or lies, just because they make you feel better?

I may as well add in here, if you change your password a touch appears. That still doesn't mean an approval is coming...

Devilette, I agree with your sentiment 100%. I get annoyed at reading all the "oh lookie, I got a touch, I'm going to get approved!" messages. Touchs don't mean diddly squat. I won't get excited until the NOA2 notice. That's when I'll know I'm approved.

But I have to disagree with you 100% on your claim that just changing your password will result in a touch. It simply is not true. Why? Because I don't even use a regular password because their lame system requires so much restrictions with their passwords and it expires every 90 days. I just enter my email address and let them send me a new password each time I want to log onto the system. I have NOT been touched since late July and I've had lots of new passwords sent to me. So I know changing your password doesn't result in a touch.

Now, having said that, I still 100% agree with your original assertion, which is that a touch doesn't mean diddly squat. But we MUST remain consistent and demand that no mis-information be spread. You are spreading mis-information by telling people that changing their passwords would result in a touch. It simply does not.

I'm sick of reading about newer member telling newbies they been touched 2 days in a row, and soon they will be approved.

The older VJers can back me up & say touches mean they are working on your case but it in NO WAY suggests an imminent approval. Please do not get people's hopes up.

I had touches 6 days in a row & wasn't approved for 3 weeks. GaryC (& others) had the same touches & STILL is not approved. They really do mean NOTHING. Please stop telling people it means an approval.

Touches can....and often DO mean "something" is happening....

Why do so many of us check for touches if they mean nothing?

You got touched because you changed your password on USCIS?? Hmmm. I changed my password on USCIS as well, and got an RFE exactly 7 days later. Maybe we're on to something here.

Apoligies if you thought I was giving false hope...I don't think I was, but only time will tell.

I prefer to remain a positive Paul :dancing:, rather a negative Nancy....lol.

Took me 144 days to get my NOA2. Not too bad compared with what other are going through, but not great either. I always remained positive though, as I knew that it would it come.

For those of you still waiting keep your chin up, it will come soon enough!

Take care! :star:
