Hi -- My wife and I are really worried right now and I am hoping you could help us.

On December 27, 2010 we submitted the form I-751 along with the $590 to remove the conditions on my wife's residence. On January 4, 2011 we received the NOA from USCIS with a receipt number, receipt date, and the amount received listed. We were getting worried since my wife never received a biometrics schedule so we looked up the status of her application on the USCIS web site. We also called the customer service number and used the automated system. Both systems tell us that the receipt number (the number listed on the NOA sent by USCIS) cannot be found. What does this mean? Did they lose our application? My wife's status expires in one month...are we going to have to submit another application? Are we going to have to pay $590 again?

Has anyone heard of this happening or have experienced this situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Obviously we are going to try calling on Tuesday but would like to try to get some information before then.

Your help/comments/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The NOA1 is a year long extension, it should say that on it.

Call USCIS and speak to them.

I spoke to USCIS last week as I have 3 AOS receipt numbers not being recognised by the phone nor online systems (AOS, EAD and AP). They are aware of the problem, its massive and its a couple of weeks off being fixed. Some people are in the system, the majority are not. As long as you have a receipt number then you're recognised as having your paperwork received :D

we've had our receipt number since Nov 17th but we have yet to be recognized by the "system"...online or by auto phone...but we have called USCIS twice to be sure. You are definitely in teh system because you have a receipt and your money has been cashed... but definately call and find out...there are those individuals who have almost missed the biometrics appt because of the late info from uscis... :) good luck!!!

that is normal you received the one year extension, then about3 to 4 weeks you should be getting the asc appointment letter for your biometrics, that letter will have a new case number, that you can check status online,

You can put in a service request after 30 days have passed with no bio appointment. We did that 2/7 just to keep after them, even though I think it's more a case of the Houston office is backed up. The bio letter was generated 2/9.

You can't check case status with the NOA1 number. A different number for checking status will be on your bio letter.

Your NOA1 receipt number for I-751 wont work on USCIS system, when you get your biometrics appointment letter it will have a new number on it, the new number will work on the system.
