Bank Statements with I-751

Don't know about bank statements, but the other day I got pulled over by a cop who wanted to see my driver license. I made him wait until I had blacked out my address with a black marker so that he can't visit me at home and stalk me.

You never know . . .

Ha...ha...

No need to be snarky. It was a legit question and written with concern to identity theft and the "what if" of someone besides the USCIS getting a hold of our papers, a concern of my husband after seeing what my brother went through after being a victim of identity theft.

I do realize that someone could probably do much more damage getting a hold of our SS#s, but in your words...it is true - "You never know"

we didn't include bank statements. we did include 3 years of irs transcripts and utility bills(actually DIRECTV + AT&T) in her name. i also included copies of both of our pay stubs(we work at the same place) showing the mailing address the same.

i also included insurance cards, beneficiary statements, and the affidavits.

from what i've read online (this forum and others) and also the field manuals forum for USCIS tax transcripts are the most powerful form of evidence. actually, when you think about it just because someone's name is on your bank account doesn't really mean anything. i could put anyone's name on my account but that doesn't really prove they're living with me. what if your spouse doesn't work or have direct deposit.

i don't think you have to include bank statements as long as your other evidence is good.

Pardon my ignorance but do "normal" married couple really uses joint bank account for their direct deposit pay check and normal everyday activities? I mean me and my husband do have a joint acount but we only use it to save money for things like vacations and immigration fees ;) And I wish we could affort for the balance to be high :D the one page I sent shows a little over a year of activities... (to tell you there's not much activity in that account) Didn't get a RFE yet... Was I suppose to have a "normal" marriage these past 2 years or live my life in order to meet USCIS vision of what marriage should be? (wish I could see their joint bank statement if they have one) I consider we are a happy couple and share all the normal stuff and hopefully proof of that will be enough to satisfy them ;) I would think It's already good enough that you guys have a joint account and wouldn't worry too much bout how many pages you send...

For ROC, we did not send bank statements at all.

However, we included a bank verification letter signed by the bank manager that we had a joint savings account.

I also included the business card of the bank manager who composed the memo in case they had to verify the information.

lol my husband and I have 2 joint accounts - a savings account & a checking account. The savings account we use only like you, to put a little extra money in there when we have it to save up for things we might want to do later. Our joint checking account we only use to pay my mom rent and not that it makes a difference, but we put the $590 in there so it will have both our names on the check when we send our packet. I have my own account for my own direct deposit paycheck and he has his own for his paycheck. I wouldn't worry if I were you, we are sending statements for our joint savings showing the few deposits and some withdrawals and our joint checking we just are sending a few statements. I also attached printouts from my bank account online of the checks we gave my mom for rent to the notarized affidavit she wrote (since we don't have a formal rental agreement). Your situation sounds "normal" to me and I thought what we were doing was "normal"...maybe I'm wrong though!

I guess my husband and I are different. He's a stay-at-home-dad with our 2 year old and I have my own janitorial business. I have the business account, then we share one checking and one savings account. We do everything out of that checking account together. I transfer money from my business account to our checking account, which we use for everything. Plus, we keep extra in the savings, for a rainy day or money that's saved for paperwork. I thought that's how all married couples did things (did it in my first marriage of over 15 years too), so I'm surprised that spouses have separate accounts from each other.

IMO having separate or joint bank accounts is not an indication of the validity of your marriage either way. Coming into a second marriage with each of us having our own assets we keep all of our accounts separate for the most part. In my first marriage everything was joint whereas in my husband's everything was separate. Since that was what he was used to I have no issues with continuing in that way. I don't believe there is any "normal" way to manage your finances, different things work for different couples. I am no less committed to my husband because we don't bank together. :)

We only included the front pages of our joint Bank statements, although the front page on ours shows the total amount deposited, withdrawed and the final total balance for the month anyway. We didn't see the need for them to see exactly where and what our money is spent on, they can always put two and two together from when we dipped below our average amount after bills and the copy of our joint car title from when bought our car and from our vacations. We submitted 8 front pages from our statements that were about 3 months apart spanning over the time since our interview for AOS.

Were you guys approved even though you just sent the first page and not the whole statements? Did they ask for the whole bank statement?

Hi. Were you guys approved? Did they ask for the rest of the bank statement (activity) since you just sent the front page?

Approved and they never asked for any more evidence, same with citizenship, I photocopied just the front fold of our most recent bank statement that showed both of our names and our home address, no rfe's :)

Congrats! Thanks for responding to my question.

Wouldn't be better if I sent the front pages of our joint acct statements from when we opened it some 3 years back, before the AOS? From what I understand is that they'll be looking for the activities covering the entire span of the marriage.

Did you guys use a binder with 3 holes to place your whole packet?

Lastly, any other evidences you might have given that made a strong impact on your petition (I-751) being approved?

Sorry for all these questions, I'm just so stressed right now thinking about it. Again, congrats!

Hello. That was a bold move! Did it work? Did USCIS ask for anymore bank statements after that?

For both AOS and ROC, we included photos, letters from friends to attest to our marriage being legit, utilities cover pages (everything bill-wise had both of our names, same address), taxes, etc. Added in hubby's beneficiary stuff from work listing me as the recipient. This was 6 yrs ago but we didn't even get asked to come in for an interview for ROC, I had bank print-outs and such in case we were aked for more evidence but that never happened
