what do you mean "there is no we" ?

As far as qualifying for the visa, she will have to qualify based on her own merits. I think that is what Boiler is referring to.

For filling out forms, gathering evidence etc., there is definitely a "we". The more help you can give with this, the better I think.

the single thing we didn't mention on her application is that she is retired. Should we?

I'm not sure about this really. Gary (or Alla) posted above that older people seem to have more luck.

In my inlaws case, using the first B2 responsibly is a positive factor for getting a second one so I'm not sure how much influence being retired had. I was actually apprehensive that being retired would give them less ties to the Ukraine, but I'm not sure how USCIS see's it. Maybe there is demographic evidence that retired or elderly people are less likely to remain in the USA.

Not so much luck, but if you are of retirement age, then that takes away the issue of you being able to work.

Walmart excepted.

yes, that's what I meant.. she couldn't do it by herself. We all try to help her to come over.

Never heard of that before. There is no limit in Kiev. My MIL applied in 3 consecutive months the 1st time she got a B2 (in 2001).

From the US embassy website - "The Consular Section no longer has a separate application procedure for applicants who have been denied recently. Anyone who wishes to apply for a U.S. visa may request an appointment at any time, regardless of the outcome of or time elapsed since his or her last application. Applicants who have been denied a visa should follow the normal application procedure."

certain countries have that were one person can only apply certain time and if they get rejected in those interviews, they have to wait for some time.

Thats wht I meant was not sure if ukraine has any such law.

I had the same problem with my mother in law. I called my US Senator and he sent an email to the Embassy. Next interview approved in 5 minutes. Maybe I got lucky.

Sorry to burst the bubble but in tourist visa / student / H1 or any of those are not influenced by Senator. If USC wife is being held back for immigration then yes Senator can do something as its USC's right.

For non-immigrant visa its not applicant's right to get a Visa.

Hi! I was wondering what happened to your case? We also invited my parents from Ukraine to visit 3 year ago, to come see me since it's been too long, to meet my new family and my husband in person. We were the sponsors, sent all necessary paperwork and they went to the interview together. The interview was horrible, the officer was also rude and did't look at any of the paperwork they brought with them. At the end he asked my mom if I were her daughter. (What kind of question is that?! )Oh well, she said yes, and her visa was approved. At the same time my dad's was denied! :bonk: Apparently, he didn't have enough ties to Ukraine... SO for the last 3 years we are inviting him again and again ( well, unlike some people, who go to the embassy 5 times/year he only goes once, but gets denied :crying: )

How to change the situation? Ahhhhh

Hi guys,

I am trying to get my Urkainian parents to visit. They have ties to Ukraine etc.

My only concern is that answered YES for my dad on DS-160 to the question: did you ever break the law? etc.

It happened 20 years ago, my dad got in a fight and was on probation, never been to jail.

Does it mean he is likely to get a denial? He is 62 now and never had a problem with law except that fight 20 years ago.
