Hi guys,

It's been awhile since I last posted about Marcel and I. We just got married on Jan. 19th and will be sending out our package for AOS by the end of next week. Do we need a certified copy of the marriage license or can i get a really good scanned copy of it to send in? Have more of you guys been RFE'd by not sending in a certified of it? Also, Marcel had his medical exam done in Cyprus but can't find where they had given him anything back as proof. If he needs another exam one then that will stink and be costly I 'm sure.....grrrrrrrr....

Thanks for your help....

Melissa

I just sent in my AOS pkt too and I waited for a certified copy because I had been reading on here that some do and some dont get RFE for the certified copy....Also if he cant find his immunizations he will more than likely have to do them over...but not the entire exam some civil surgeons will try and make you do the entire exam which is very expensive but you dont have too. you will just need the immunizations done over. There is a thread in the AOS forum on civil surgeons I am not sure what area you are in but there may be one listed in your area they have quite a few listed there. Also it normally only take 3-5 days for the certified copy of the marriage license to come back.

A normal photocopy of the marriage cert is all that is required. No one gets an RFE for the original for AOS unless it is difficult to read. Good luck.

I sent a b/w copy of the certified marriage certificate because the marriage certificate that we got on our wedding date clearing stated on the back that "This certificate is for keepsake purposes and not an official record." So we had to pay and order a certified copy from the county recorder to show that we are "Officially" married and to avoid RFE.

Our AOS Journey started:

Nov 06, 2010: CS & CQ got married in Las Vegas

Nov 26, 2010: AOS-EAD-AP package sent out

Nov 29, 2010: Package delivered at 1:12pm

Dec 10, 2010: Received text messages from USCIS regarding receipt numbers for AOS, EAD, and AP

Dec 14, 2010: Received three I-797C from mail

Dec 18, 2010: Touched

Jan 05, 2011: Received RFE for I-485 (email)

Jan 10, 2011: Received RFE for I-485 (hardcopy)

Jan 11, 2011: Sent response to RFE for I-485 (Fedex/UPS do not deliver to PO Box. Only USPS does and it takes 2 days even for Express Post)

Jan 13, 2011: Response to RFE delivered

Jan 14, 2011: Touched

Jan 15, 2011: Touched

Jan 18, 2011: Received Biometric Appointment letter in mail

Jan 21, 2011: Biometric Appointment (Walk-in Successful)

Feb 17, 2011: Received 2nd text/email for EAD card in production

Feb 18, 2011: Received 3rd text/email for EAD card has been mailed out

Feb 18, 2011: Received AP!!!! YAY!!!!

Feb 22, 2011: Received EAD!!!!

Feb 22, 2011: Received letter for 2nd fingerprints :(

Mar 17, 2011: 2nd fingerprints

A regular photocopy of your official marriage licence is all that is required. I personally have a "church" pretty copy, and a "legal" certified copy. The legal one is signed by a registrar and has a seal on it.

Regarding the medical, he doesn't need a new medical but he DOES need to have his immunisations checked. Do you have a copy of his immunisations? If his shots aren't up to date you should see a CS. If you're not sure you could get a blood titre from a regular doctor to check immunities and then take that record to the CS to do a "vaccination transcription". Bear in mind though that USCIS does sometimes lose the medicals and if you get an RFE for the medical you will probably need to undertake a whole new medical. Just keep that in mind and put some money aside just in case.

There's an AOS thread in my signature with info that should help you.

Marcel remembers the doctor writing stuff down and he did get a shot and blood work. That paperwork was in with the white envelope we gave to the officer at JFK. Marcel is going to get in touch with the doctor in Cyprus and see if she can resend written proof of his shots and blood work etc...

That's what we did personally. Some people haven't been able to get their doc to send it because the doc didn't keep a copy.

Good luck! Hopefully his doc kept a copy.

This is her exact response:

Dear Marcel,

Unfortunately that ı have no copy of your document. You should take copy before giving your results. So ask them, may be they can send youa copy, or if they accept, I can send you mail that you are in good health and all your vaccinations are completed.

Best wishes,

Dr.Sibel Siber

I don't understand because they should have a record there of the vaccinations given to him. All she'd have to do is fill it out and resend it via email.

Sometimes they just don't keep copies. Honestly SHE was supposed to give you a copy of the DS-3025 before putting it in the envelope. It's actually on the form that she was supposed to give you a copy. If she doesn't have a copy though I don't think she can re-do it.
