I feel your pain :(

There have been a couple in August with NOA1 dates of 16 & 17th August been approved and everyone else is still waiting, they must of just got lucky and they're files were at the top of the pile.

They could be behind on petitions and also could still be clarifing peoples petitions in front of ours.. I wish they would speed up though... The waiting is a killer :(

You may want to look through the forum, this is a very common question, USCIS has been back logged and virtually every one is waiting 5 months or even longer for approvals.

You are NOT alone!

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Why does it take so long? They claim that they are just busy. I have a few other theories that do not speak quite so well of them.

But that is neither here nor there. Either way, we are stuck with the wait.

I understand why you want to be passive here. I would love to be passive too and get my NOA2 within 5 months too. But there are techniques for getting aggressive, and various people have used them with varying degrees of success, and if you want every possible advantage in shortening this wait, you need to consider trying some of them yourself.

Don't feel bad.

When you've been waiting as long as we have, then it's an issue.

We filed last February and our interview is set now, but it's not until March..... 13 months to get to the damn interview.

Sometimes they are slow/some packets get slipped into the cracks. :/

It's horrible. I hate the wait so much and the unknown-ness. It makes me sick.

9/21/10--I-129F mailed to Dallas

9/29/10--NOA1 (email and text message)

9/29/10--Check cashed

10/1/10--NOA1 hardcopy received (dated 9/27 and sent to VSC)

10/3/10--Touched (everyone touched)

04/19/11-NOA2!! (FINALLY! After 204 days)

Major change of plans - the wait was too long for us and I ended up moving to Croatia in June 2011.

Married 06/09/12 <3

9/3/12 - I-130 NOA1

It will be 5 months for me on January 16, 2011. My K1 Visa packet was received on August 16, 2010. Does anyone know why it's taking so long? I really do not want to call them nor write a letter to a senator. Does it really have to be this long?

Only 5 months and already you want to call in the army??..jeez we waited over a year..relax

I am, too, eagerly waiting for NOA2 as the 5 month mark quickly approaches. I had hoped to get approved sooner, but now I only hope to get approved as soon as possible!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

As an FYI, its not the VISA you're currently waiting on, but the petition. An approved petition allows the alien fiance/e to apply for a K1 visa at the overseas consulate. I know it seems picky, but with immigration, the devil is always in the details, so it always helps to keep the terms straight.

Moving thread from K1 process forum to K1 progress forum.
