Hi everybody,

I had my AOS package received in Chicago on the 22nd of November and received the NOAs from all the forms, but then haven't heard anything since. Should I be worried - is that normal that it takes over 1½ months to get the letter with the appointment for the biometrics? Should I call the USCIS?

Do you know which ASC center you are using? if so that might help you figure out why your biometrics is taking so long. Some centers are really slow and take forever.

For ex: the one in OMAHA NEB is a brand new building but has few people working there and they are really slow even tho hardly anyone is there for appointments.

sara,

my adive to you is to call them.

I was/am in the same situation. I sent my AOS on the 8th november. Got the NOA on the 17th of november....and then nothing. My case status still says no case is found so i called them up to see what's going on. they told me they sent me a letter and if i don't get it to call back in 2 weeks. When i didn't get anything from them I called them up only to find out they had sent me a letter that came back to them saying it's undeliverable. I complained and talked to a hundred people because i recieved the NOA so there was no reason for the letter they sent to be undeliverable(the address is still the same so it doesn't make sense). Finally i talked to a supervisor and she told me they will resend it. When i got the letter the other day i noticed on my address-they put a while label to cover the old address , because they put in the wrong apartment number. That's why it didn't arrive... so i could have waited long and hard for nothing. It was a RFE letter(easy to fix...so i was happy) the first lady i talked to told me it was a rfe, then the other people i talked to told me it was a biometrics...it's like they have no ideea what they are talking about...everything was so confusing ...

So call them up, because it can be an easy fix that can get turn into a complicated thing.(if i would have never called i would have never known that they sent a letter that was undeliberable... i had 87 days to respond otherwise my case would have been denied...)

It doesn't hurt to call, it's in your best interest, It's your case...your future, be on top of things.and if their answer doesn't satisfy you ask to speak with a supervisor...some people i talked to they really really had no ideea why they were there. One guy was putting me on hold every 10 sec for 30 seconds...

Good luck

Unfortunately there is no standard timeframe when you will receive your appointment for biometrics or the interview. Like Inky mentioned, some offices are slow, some are fast, it always depends on their workload and employee's availability of your local USCIS office. I have read from people with very close timeline to mine that they had their biometrics weeks before me, but then again, they are located somewhere else in the US.

If you call the national hotline be aware - they cannot give you any more info of when you will expect your biometrics appointment, as just mentioned the ASCs have their separate scheduling system. You can however mention that if you can't see your cases on the online case status and they will be able to assist you on that.

So try to sit back and relax and have a positive surprise in the mail soon. I remember how it felt like forever to me for not receiving my appointment for biometrics and seeing others did.

Good luck on your immigration journey!! :)

You should call them. It doesn't hurt to call. For my case, it took 21 days to receive first NOA. I had to call them to inquire about my case before I could receive my 1st NOA since everybody got it while I didn't. After 4 days I called, I finally receive it and then biometrics letter.

Anyways, call them and good luck

  • 2 years later...

call definitely! My case was received November 27, NOA1 date November 29 and I rang them on December 27th to see what is happening as there was no biometrics letter delivered to me... The guys sent in a request and I was to get a reply within 2 weeks. I hadn't received anything so I rang yesterday and heard the same story that they have actually 30 days to reply and he cannot send another request bla bla bla. So I insisted on talking to tier 2 and she told me my appointment was on December 28 and I missed it! SO they sent a letter, never sent me an email to confirm (which I signed up for) and also the customer service never told me my appointment was the next day when I rang the first time!

Always insist on talking to tier 2, if they don't want to put you through keep repeating you want to talk to tier 2 and they have to connect you...

Tier 2 said she would send an email requesting another date for me so hopefully they don't think I abandoned my petition but who knows with USCIS. I scheduled info pass for tomorrow and will try to get them to speed up my biometrics as this is simply their fault. I am lucky I got a letter from USCIS after my previous call so I have a proof I did call them a day before my appointment so obviously I couldn't have known they had a date set up for me...

Good luck!
