FIling an I-130 w/o an Certificate of Citizenship

Hi, I am filing I-130 form for my wife's AOS, and I have a question about the proof of citizenship. I was born abroad and naturalized through my parents before I was 18.

I have a U.S. passport but no certificate of citizenship. The USCIS officer said the certificate is needed as proof or else the filing process will be delayed; but I've seen else where that the U.S. passport is enough. Who's right?

Also if I only us my passport as evidence what troubles may I run into if they don't consider it as enough evidence and what can I do besides filing an N-600 to prove I'm a U.S. citizen?

I've never heard of a case where a US passport was not sufficient evidence that the petitioner is a US citizen. I doubt it will be a problem.

Thread moved from AOS from a family based visa to AOS from a work, student or visitor visa as family based visas generally do not require an I-130 petition

My guess is that about 200,000,000 US citizens have neither a Certificate of Citizenship nor a Certificate of Naturalization.

Since only US citizens can get a US passport, a US passport is as good a document to prove one's US citizenship as it gets.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . FWIW - the USCIS officer is wrong.

a USA Passport is sufficient.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
