I'm beginning the process of applying for a K1 visa for my English fiance. How much will it affect us if I have a misdemeanor charge and have been on probabtion for it?

Generally no impact unless for domestic violence or sex crime against a child. If domestic violence, you'll provide court records with your petition and all is well. If sex crime against a child, don't count on any visa ever. It's possible, but unlikely.

Well, it is definately none of those things so I should be in the clear than!!

Absolutely..I've had a few,wasn't even asked for any court records at K-1 interview or AOS...but it's best if you can get court records because you will most likely be asked for them.

For the foreigner, maybe. Unless there are three drug convictions not from the same incident, it doesn't even come up for the US Citizen. Sure, it will be seen in the background check but it won't get a petition denied or a visa denied for the foreigner with a clean record.

It's not drugs either . . . and I have the court papers saying I've done everything I need to. My fiance has a completely clear record, so problems there.

I was a bit worried about that as well...my fiance is the USC and he has a couple of misdemeanors from a few years ago...

But I have a totally clean record, so I think that's what they're most interested in

There's no crime in the criminal code for "saying a bad word" whether around a child or not.  If you don't want to give the details, don't pose the question.  If you soft soap the issue to get a response you're looking for, it won't help you in the visa process.
