No symphony to ring in the new year? Are you going to carry your purse on the slopes?

Have a great time and a happy, healthy, prosperous new year to you and yours.

Happy New Year Spooks, 5, and all.

May 2011 bring us all the blessings and happiness we wish for.

In particular, may the Bears go on to kick butt throughout the post season

We had gone out for an informal dinner and to some stores, then just went home for the rest of the night so my son could go to bed. We watched a movie and then watched the ball drop on TV.

I am dying to know what the participants' birthplaces have to do with this!

No formula or theory - just to show how people coming from such diverse locations find each other together at this special time of year.

That we are international couples is a given - and we have international friends & family as well.

My friend from Italy said that when he was in Rome, as an experiment he looked everywhere for "spaghetti & meatballs"

and finally found an American tourist oriented restaurant near the Vatican. When he sat down to eat, the meatball fell apart

and was not fully cooked inside, the worst one he had ever experienced. He knew that in real Italian cuisine,

meatballs don't exist - he's not sure if they originated in the US or elsewhere - essentially the US/Italian "meatball"

is hamburger (a German invention).

His Chinese girlfriend also added that "chicken & broccoli" as we know it in US Chinese restaurants doesn't exist at all in China.

The (physical) cooking style in Chinese restaurants here may be Chinese, but the ingredients and many of the spices have

been adapted to local tastes here rather than staying faithful to how things are done in China.
